Tigermilk

Tigermilk

Released initially in 1996, Tigermilk is the album that introduced the world to Belle and Sebastian—a recording full of clever folk, bittersweet indie pop and memorable melodies. It begins gently, with just Stuart Murdoch’s voice and an acoustic guitar easing into the sun-kissed sway of “The State I Am In”. The melancholy “We Rule the School” invokes nostalgia with sweeping strings, playful flute and rolling piano. Providing counterpoint to the warmth and softness is the lo-fi joy of synth-heavy “Electronic Renaissance”.
