Yeeeah FF always felt like a series that has to reinvent itself, even if it stumbles along the way, but I don't feel it in new FF titles anymore, sadly

Oh yeah I heard the same about DQ3. Though people say similar things about ff4, that its the first FF with plot, but I loved 1-3 more haha, so I'm still interested in DQ1-2. But maybe it's bad to compare them, I will want to see Final Fantasy in Dragon Quest ..

yesss, please do update me on Graces f if you start it, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts, even if it’s months later! And honestly, I totally agree with everything you said about older JRPGs. I love old games, but you’re right that many early entries can feel like prototypes when you play them after experiencing the later, more polished evolutions of the genre. At the same time, that’s kind of what I adore about them, you can see ideas being born, tested, sometimes clumsy but full of charm. For this reason I love FF1-3 hahaha. I would love to play DQ1-3, too. For me, remasters (when done properly) are such a gift: quality-of-life improvements without erasing the soul of the original 💗 But sometimes they do nothing, just emulate it on new consoles and still want full price for an old game sigh.

Oh thats niiice! I liked both Tales of Symphonia and FF Mystic Quest, Symphonia is so cozy peak, I loved the aesthetic, but my favorite Tales is Graces F forever! Mystic Quest is so charming, you have my full respect and also my shock because hardly anyone touches the older JRPGs anymore unless they’re deep in the retro mines hahah
