I definitely agree with you about adaptations. Some of them can change the original work so much, even the characters themselves.

I actually decided to read the Claymore manga one year after watching the anime, and I'm really glad I did. The endings are different. The manga is 27 volumes long, but the anime only covers up to around volume 11, so the ending feels a little rushed. In my opinion, it was probably better that they ended it there, because the artwork in the manga gets much more detailed afterwards, and I don't think those panels could have been translated into animation perfectly.

I think what makes the Claymore manga so good is how much deeper it gets than you'd expect. The world is really interesting, the characters feel well-written, and I especially love how it explores what it means to stay human while slowly becoming something else in the pursuit of revenge. Clare's development also feels really natural, and the other characters are all pretty unique. The artwork is amazing too, especially the awakened being designs. And honestly, the manga gives you so much more than the anime and makes the whole story feel much bigger.

Claymore is actually kind of a revenge story, but it gets more complicated as it goes on. So if you're planning to watch the anime too, I'd recommend watching it first and then reading the manga. I feel like if you read the manga first, the anime probably won't be as satisfying.

I usually prefer watching the anime first. But if it really leaves an impression on me, I love giving the manga a chance too. And yeah, I totally agree with you. There's just something special about reading a series you love in a quiet room. It's such a relaxing experience.

Also, a few days ago I came across a fan made live action of Goodbye, Eri on YouTube. If you enjoyed the manga, I'd definitely recommend checking it out. I'm usually not into live action adaptations, but it honestly felt like even an anime adaptation couldn't have done it any better.

Haha, then you should definitely watch the Paradise Kiss anime after reading the manga! Just like Nana, it has an amazing soundtrack. I feel like if you only read the manga, it might not immerse you as much. The music adds so much to the atmosphere.

I totally get you. Whenever I really love an anime, I don't want it to end either, so I end up putting off the last few episodes.

By the way, are you usually the type to read the manga first or watch the anime first?

It really is. The Paradise Kiss character designs are gorgeous, and the characters' emotions feel so real that it's easy to form a connection with them. That's why it's one of my favs.

Eris is brutal, especially that spar with wooden swords.. it turned into an MMA fight..
