I've always liked yuri tbh and since decent animated yuri is pretty scarce, I tend to watch new ones when they come out to see if they're any good :)
We may not know each other, but I like wishing people a happy birthday whenever I can.
Hope you have a great one ~
For a lot of people it does hit immediately, so your experience makes sense too. I just think both exist, some people break instantly, others kind of hold it together until something triggers it later
For Kasamachi I see your point, I don’t think he’s right for how he treats his father, but I also feel like the show isn’t really asking us to agree with him. It just shows how easier it can be to understand someone distant (like Makio) than someone close, especially when there’s already frustration or unresolved feelings.
Sometimes it’s not really about logic or fairness, it’s more like people choose where they put their empathy, even if it’s inconsistent or even unfair
About the show not showing other perspectives, I kinda agree a bit. It stays very close to the characters inner worlds, so we don’t really get a balanced view. But I didn’t really see it as the show saying they’re right, more like it just lets them exist in their own contradictions without judging them
But yeah, I get why it didn’t click the same way for you
For Nippon Sangoku it is honestly a pleasant surprise ! The animation is superb, I love the chara design, the characters and the setting !
AOTS for me
For me the characters aren’t meant to be role models. They’re inconsistent, fragile, sometimes unfair, and that’s exactly why they felt real. If you don’t relate to their type of sensitivity, I can see why it all feels off or exaggerated. But from my side, a lot of their reactions made sense emotionally, even when they weren’t “logical”
But I think grief and emotional reactions don’t work the way you’re describing. Grief isn’t a clean or immediate process that starts the second someone dies. For a lot of people the first reaction is denial, numbness, or even a kind of emotional freeze. The real impact often comes later, triggered by something small or unexpected
As for Kasamachi, having material comfort doesn’t erase emotional neglect. You can grow up with everything you need physically and still feel hurt or disconnected if there’s no warmth, no presence, no real attention. That kind of wound doesn’t need a big trauma to exist
So yeah, I get your perspective, but I definitely experienced the anime in a very different way. Tho I appreciate you for sharing your perspective with me !
Tho I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it
