i live !!! just barely. my bowels and my knees are teaming up against me... but i think i'm winning the fight with my knees. they just don't like me running, i'm too heavy. the burdens i must carry for being tall and peak bulk. but the pool reopens soon so then i can swim again instead. but i'm also peak bulk so i'm like i shouldn't go to the pool i should wait a month or two until i'm back at peak leanness so that everyone will be like wowza!! what a guy when i enter the pool

Ah, knew something was off lol. A friend of mine was explaining to me why there's a misconception where Hinduism has 33 million gods. It was a mistranslation of the words "kooti" meaning "10 million" and the Sanskrit/Tamil word "koti" meaning "type".

Yeah I can spell these words but pronunciation I still mess up.

There's also Zaijian which means goodbye, Zao Shang Hao which means good morning, Lao Shi means teacher, etc.


Yeah, and you do with Greece as well. The names "Dyaus" and "Zeus" stem from the same word "Dyēus Ph₂tḗr" which is a reconstruction.


Many people in my area is bilingual, I live in California. Mainly Spanish but also Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or others. Honestly, being bilingual is something I wish to achieve one day in full. American schools do their best to teach students foreign languages. The languages vary, my old high school taught Chinese, Spanish, French, and American Sign Language. But another high school I know of taught Japanese.

Indian languages which are connected to Sanskrit are part of a way larger branch of languages called PIE (Proto-Indo-European). Languages like English, German, French, Italian, Greek, Latin, Hindi, Sanskrit, etc. are connected to each other as a family.


I don't watch C-Drama lol, the closest I can think of is The Monkey King movies which adapts Journey to the West. I've watched the Nezha animated movies as well. Chinese overall is a pretty fun language but I can't really use it in any situations, which made me lose memory of some of it. I love China too, the history, the food, the art, etc.

China is unfortunately authoritarian which is why I'm glad I don't live there. But then again, USA has been becoming more authoritarian as well. Either way, I'm screwed. I'd still love to travel to China one day though. Same with India, that's one of the top countries on my list.

Yeah, I have some online friends from India (not on MAL) who taught me those words. Also from Pushpek Sidhu, a content creator. I can understand some Sanskrit but not an expert. It’s mainly due to me studying history and linguistics.

I am assuming since you said you have to know Hindi then you live in India since Hindi is one of the most common languages there. Same with English since British Raj and English is the “global language”. The Indian languages I am aware of (key word aware, not fluent lol) are Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Urdu, Bangla, Bengali, Punjabi, Pali, and Sanskrit.

Chinese is a pretty hard language to learn, as someone who took it for 3 years lol. There’s different tonal markings, different writings for different words, even different styles of Pinyin which is romanized Chinese.

My great grandma lived immigrated from Germany to the United States to flee the Third Reich. She didn’t teach German to her kids and now I am paying the price for that lmfao. I haven’t had much time to study German though as much as I did 2 years ago.

Oh nice, I'm familiar with some Hindi (including normal and profane words) but not so much on Bangla. Sanskrit is pretty cool and I can understand some of that too, since it's the mother of at least North Indian languages.

Can you speak both languages fluently if you don't mind me asking?

I mainly speak English but also some Chinese and Japanese, trying to learn German since that's technically my mother tongue.
