Mitigated Negative Declaration Draft presentation
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), EBMUD will release a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the Miller Road Trench Soil Management Program (Program). The MND will be presented virtually at a public community meeting to gather input from the Castro Valley community on this project. Public meeting information is below.

Project Information
The Project involves the continued operation of the Miller Road trench soil stockpile and rock and sand stockpile sites; this includes the import, temporary storage, and periodic removal (off-haul events) of clean soil, rock, and sand to support the replacement of aging pipelines.

EBMUD estimates annual replacement of failing pipes will increase through 2030 leading to increased trench soil generation. EBMUD will conduct intermittent trench soil off-hauls to free space at the site.

The Facts About the Lafayette Reservoir Tower Seismic Upgrade

EBMUD Public Affairs from East Bay Municipal Utility District · 31 Mar

Dear Lafayette Neighbors,

EBMUD is moving forward with a critical dam safety upgrade at the Lafayette Reservoir. We want to ensure you have accurate, up-to-date information about the Lafayette Reservoir Tower Seismic Upgrade Project.

The existing tower, built in 1929, does not meet modern seismic safety standards. The upgraded tower will be 40 feet shorter and is designed to withstand a major earthquake, which will protect Lafayette and downstream communities.

We recognize that some in the community care deeply about the appearance of the existing tower. That's why the design of the upgraded structure closely reflects the look of the original. You can view renderings of the upgraded tower at low, average, and high water levels on the project webpage.

The project webpage also includes a Q&A section covering:

- Why the tower is being retrofitted
- What the State Division of the Safety of Dams (DSOD) determined
- How EBMUD has worked with the City of Lafayette
- Reservoir access and temporary closures
- The project's design process and timeline

We invite all Lafayette residents to stay engaged. A community meeting will be held this summer, where you'll learn more about the project, hear about key construction dates, including temporary closures at the reservoir, and speak with the project team.

To learn more about the project, please visit www.ebmud.com/lafayettetower.

Thank you for your continued interest in this important public safety effort.

Sincerely,

East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD)

Dear Residents

EBMUD Public Affairs from East Bay Municipal Utility District · 29 Jan

EBMUD will conduct night work on San Pablo Ave., between Carlson Blvd. and Cutting Blvd. in Richmond. Night work will be from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am on Wednesday, January 29th. The work being performed is installation of 12” Water Main and is in relation to Pipeline’s Carlson Blvd. Project. The reason for the work taking place at night is because during the day there is a high volume of traffic and high speeds at this intersection which would cause safety concerns for crews and motorists if this pipeline work was performed during the day.

During night work, residents and businesses can expect temporary road closures, parking restrictions, equipment, materials, some construction-related noise and dust, and temporary lighting to support overnight work. Crew will limit traffic in the surrounding area. Pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
