My wife and I got invited to our friends’ child’s birthday party. It is frozen themed and costumes are encouraged (for adults and children). I know next to nothing about Frozen. Any ideas for costumes for a mid 30s guy? Something that would hopefully not be too hard to put together?

Yes, I know they’re scummy as fuck. Yes I know they’re gonna turn it into yet another overpriced rental. But I’m mostly asking if they’re otherwise legit.

More and more it seems like I’m seeing opinion columns being posted in the fediverse that are, to be fair, bad takes - but everyone seems to act like it’s representative of the entire publication. Which misses the entire point of opinion columns - they’re about providing different points of view, food for thought, if you will. Show you things outside of your bubble. The inevitable reality is that if you do that, you’re going to have some bad takes. If you don’t have some bad takes every once in a while, your opinion column is bad and you should feel bad.

Obviously, the internet has always been a toxic place, (the phrase “flame war” has been around for decades,) but it seems to have gotten so much worse over the last few years. I used to think decentralization of the internet would fix the worst of it, but Lemmy seems to have gotten worse alongside the rest of internet culture, proving me wrong. How do we fix/improve this culture of toxicity?

I hate using the phone in the sun and cant see anything because the light reflects off the screen too much.

Whether it be Hong Kong or Iran, or well, in dictatorships. A lot of times I see a ton of people coming to the street and basically shouting stuff.

I know a lot of us use ad-blockers and the like so we don’t see ads often anymore. But we can get some insight as to how much certain “services” make by showing ads to the average customer when they have paid ad-free subscriptions available. YouTube, for example. Maybe streaming services.

I am looking for an alternative to the Youtube app. I heard a lot of recommendations about New Pipe but on F droid there are so many flavors. Which one to pick?

Or are just fucked and perma kicked out of NATO and the UN? Or will we have to do a big World Wide Appology saying yes we fucked up but we are trying/will fix it.?

They use HBM (High Bandwidth Memory). PCs, laptops and phones don’t use this type of RAM.
