No. You have to have both proof of purchase and provide a serial number that Samsung can use to validate. The fakes would not have a proper serial number since Samsung didn’t produce them.

Right but the people who are selling the fakes don’t care about that as long as they can get their money. They can just claim it has a 5 year Samsung warranty, people won’t be duped until they attempt an RMA.

Sure, but the comment I replied to asked why they would care as long as the performance was the same. I gave them a reason why I would care.

Also, I typically register my hardware in the warranty portal when I get it, not when I need to first RMA it. That means that I would catch it almost immediately.
