This is the remaining interior stonework of a 13th Century, two storey tower, which was later altered and renamed Mortham Tower. Originally the ground floor contained the service rooms (buttery, pantry and servery to the kitchen) and the first floor room was a residential chamber with a latrine. I love how you can see where the stone staircase was positioned (to the left-hand side above the arch).
