Teaching music doesn't have to be complicated. These four notes are the most common rhythms for students in the first 1-2 years of thier musical journey. The rhythms are counted using the Eastman School of counting. Notes with dashes are held out for that number of counts. For example a whole note would be counted by saying one---- over 4 counts.
