AUTUMN TERM TALKS

Do you want to learn more about climate change and possible ways of taking action? RECC has you covered!

Join a series of talks and discussions we are organising for the first time ever this term to learn more about a range of topics such as

  • scientific foundations of climate change and the 1.5°C goal
  • sustainable food systems and interlinkages between the climate and biodiversity crisis
  • economic options for climate policy and barriers to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels
  • climate justice, governance and political participation, and entry-points for sustainability action on campus… by experts from across campus and external speakers.

When? 

Every second Wednesday, 5-6:30pm, Palmer Building 103 (October 4th, October 18th, November 1st, November 15th, November 29th)

Dan Fernbank is the University of Reading’s Energy and Sustainability Director and will give us an overview about progress against the Univeristy’s Net Zero Carbon target, current efforts and whats coming next. 

Eating locally and seasonally: good or evil?

Wednesday November 15th, 5.30pm-6.30pm, Palmer 103

As part of the Univeristy’s Green Festival we are talking to Professor Carol Wagstaff about whether a local and seasonal food system is always the best for sustainability and health? We will discuss farming systems, impacts on biodiversity and the Dimbleby Food Strategy to explore this question.

Join the Reading Environmental Crisis Community for an introductory workshop to our newest campaign: Fossil Free Careers. If you want to get involved in the fight for climate justice but don’t know where to start, People & Planet have made this workshop just for you!
