Soft Mist Inhalers & Soft Nasal Sprays

At Resyca we make syringe and cartridge based inhaler devices and nasal sprays for liquid formulations. We want to offer the best possible inhalation / nasal treatments while reducing the impact on our environment.  Resyca can make a difference to both.

A Breath of Innovation

Resyca is a joint venture between Bespak, a leading CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organisation), and Medspray, the originator of the micro-nozzle technology for Resyca’s soft mist inhalation and soft nasal spray devices. With us, the patient always comes first.

High Doses

Our soft mist inhalers can deliver large doses of medication to the lungs with great efficiency and lower losses in the mouth and throat compared with Metered Dose Inhalers (MDI) or Dry Powder Inhalers (DPI).

Our inhalers can spray liquid formulations in high concentration, which shortens the time required for a treatment session.

No Propellants

At Resyca we do not use any propellants.  Formulations are preferably just water and the active pharmaceutical ingredient.

We do not use volatile organic compounds, like the current MDIs on the market, and no formulations that require energy-intensive manufacturing processes like DPIs.  Consequently, our inhalers can have a significant impact on reducing global warming.

Time to Market

Choosing a soft mist inhaler can shorten the time to market for a new drug product with two to three years.

Aqueous formulations are often available from the start of drug development. Turning these into a dry powder or formulating them into a propellant for a pMDI takes years. This time can be saved by going straight for a soft mist inhaler.

Delivery of Sensitive Biological Products

Existing inhalers that use propellants or dry powder based formulations are generally intended for potent medications that require micrograms to be effective. In contrast, new drugs such as biologics, in most cases, require much higher dosages. Resyca technology can aerosolise many of these drugs, such as mRNA without degradation and deliver high doses. Our soft mist aerosol generation process, where the liquid passes just once through a static nozzle pore with limited shear forces, is gentle on fragile formulations.

More information about the devices

01

PFSI

Resyca Soft Mist Inhaler PFSI - based on pre-filled syringe cartridge

The PFSI™, a pre-filled syringe inhaler, is based on a 1 mL glass syringe.  The medication is already in the device and the patient can start using it immediately.

The glass syringe is proven primary packaging that improves drug stability for complex biological formulations using existing filling lines.

02

Pulmospray

The Pulmospray™ with Respi Lever Drive™, is a disposable nebuliser.  The 1 mL plastic syringe can be filled on site with the desired medication.

We use Pulmospray™ in early clinical development and for drug products, which use formulations that must be reconstituted directly before administration.
