I have a small website with the git code hosted on my own Forgejo instance. I want to give my wife easy access to the code to update texts. I think using Forgejo is an easy enough interface for her to do that.

I have a great music library on my homelab, but I hardly ever listen to it because I mostly listen to music on my TV.

(This is a question for people like me who don’t self host their email.)

As this will -thanks to me being quite clueless- be a very open question I will start with the setup:

I’ve noticed more and more companies are able to detect when emails are from a temporary or alias email service. With emails being as important to identity as a phone number or address nowadays, I use proxy emails to bypass corporate registration and tracking, at least to an extent. I don’t give out my actual email unless it’s for something genuinely important.

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions from the community about the best way to go about migrating from Windows Server on my homelab host to Proxmox.

Background: I’ve been running Linux Mint XFCE for a couple of years now, Windows 10 has been sitting unused on a separate drive but it turns out the one thing I need it for works passably in a VM so it’s time to bin it. I’ve used Fedora Atomic (UBlue) on some laptops and I like it so that seems like a good candidate to replace the Windows install, and Mint can hang around for when I need a “normal” Linux install.

I’ve been using Smailpro.com for years now but it seems companies are wising up to proxy emails like those. With email being as important to identity as a phone number or address nowadays, I only use proxies unless it’s something I deem important enough to use my real email for.

Solution: download an earlier version of the LM Studio AppImage.

Thought I might share this for anyone that’s running into the same problem as me. Since the Beelink S12 Pro is a popular choice for some in this community, especially if you are running video transcoding (mediaservers).

I’ve got Immich working great on Unraid, but if I’m on my network I can’t really use it. Just fails to resolve the dns. I looked it up and it’s that my router doesn’t support hairpin or something. It’s a Aginet hb810. I found a workaround in the Immich client where you can add a second entry that’s network specific, but it doesn’t seem to work very reliably.

To be honest, I’ve seen commercial 7’ racks in data centres and computer rooms that were worse than the worst ones here!

I have a OnePlus5T that runs PostmarketOS (console, no GUI). I use pmbootstrap to flash the image and it serves me well for the most part. To make the internet connection more stable, I wish to connect the phone to the router using an Ethernet adapter.

I’m sketching the idea of building a NAS in my home, using a USB RAID enclosure (which may eventually turn into a proper NAS enclosure).

Any idea for a self hosted home maintenance reminder system? Essentially something that will have reminders for things that reoccur regularly either ie yearly, monthly etc. Ideally it would have some way of checking it off to show the task was completed and then it would reoccur at the preset time next month /year etc.

Longtime Mint stickler here, never developed a taste for any other distro schools (Arch, Fedora, other buntus and Debians). But tried out MX after a long period of deferring and I am genuinely blown away. This distro has *everything I could have ever ask for - Debian stability coupled with advanced hardware support (with more recent zen kernels and drivers), a solid opinionated Plasma DE setup that is both minimalist and all-encompassing at the same time, and a full stock of sensible and pragmatic utilities to cover the boring stuff.

So I recently installed Cachyos and I am now met with this problem.
