Open Source C# Package Managers

The main goal of this project is to create an intuitive GUI for the most common CLI package managers for Windows 10 and 11, such as WinGet, Scoop, Chocolatey, Pip, Npm, .NET Tool, and PowerShell Gallery. With this app, you can easily download, install, update, and uninstall any software published on the supported package managers.

Chocolatey has the largest online registry of Windows packages. Chocolatey packages encapsulate everything required to manage a particular piece of software into one deployment artifact by wrapping installers, executables, zips, and/or scripts into a compiled package file. Package submissions go through a rigorous moderation review process, including automatic virus scanning. The community repository has a strict policy on malicious and pirated software. Many organizations face the ongoing challenge of deploying and supporting various versions of software. Chocolatey allows organizations to automate and simplify the management of their complex Windows environments. GetStoreApp is a Windows application that enables users to download and install Microsoft Store applications offline, bypassing the need for a Microsoft account. It provides functionalities such as searching for store apps, checking for updates, and managing installed applications. Additionally, it integrates with WinGet to facilitate package installation, uninstallation, and upgrades, offering a comprehensive solution for managing Windows applications.​

UpmGitExtension is a Unity editor extension that enhances the Unity Package Manager (UPM) by providing a user interface for managing packages installed from Git repositories. It simplifies the process of adding, updating, and removing Git-based packages within Unity projects, improving the overall package management experience for developers.​

AppGet was a free and open-source package manager for Windows, focusing on automation, security, and ease of use. It allowed users to install and manage software through the command line, streamlining the process of setting up and maintaining Windows environments. AppGet's approach influenced the development of Microsoft's Windows Package Manager (winget).​

BaGet (pronounced "baguette") is a lightweight NuGet and symbol server. It is open-source, cross-platform, and cloud-ready! You can also use the BaGet.Protocol package to interact with a NuGet server. Cross-platform, dockerized, cloud-ready, supports read-through caching. Can index the entirety of nuget.org. Coming soon, support for private feeds. You can run BaGet on your preferred platform, on your computer, Docker, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun). With a few extra steps, you can run BaGet behind a Windows IIS proxy. This has many benefits, including automatic restarts on reboots. You may need to give special permissions to the top-level BaGet folder so that the app can persist in its state. This is necessary as the Application Pools' identity is a virtual account that isn't recognized by the Windows User Management Console.
