"Best Universal database access and management tool" Posted 2022-04-08
Pros: Clean and to the point interface.
Free & Open source.
Lots of extensions / plugins.
Universal - Allows connecting to most of the popular db's via plugins.
Has multiple Db management utilities.
Multi platform - Available on mac, windows, linux.Cons: For a free solution and a universal one - I can't find any cons.
Overall: I use the community edition of DBeaver for personal projects and it is a must have.It is much better than alternatives as it is FOSS and supports connections to multiple db's via plugins.

"An underrated gem" Posted 2022-04-01
Pros: Simple to use.
Does not attempt to maximize unnecessary (and non functional) features.
Responsive developers.
Reverse engineer existing DBs from connections or scripts. And can generate a completely db independent ERD.
The price rocks.
The documentation generator is by far the best I've seen.Cons: It is simple and sometimes manual alterations of DDL is needed (e.g., sharding, if present).
I'm not (yet) allowed to use it at my current place of employment.Overall: DBeaver is by far my favorite ERD tool. It is not bloated like ErWin and ERStudio. It is not lacking in necessary functionality like DBeaver data modeler. The HTML5 ERD reports are enough to bring a data nerd to tears.
