The intro to the song, which you first hear before the drum break kicks in, is the original sample sent to me by Awaikaze. I loved the laid-back, Dilla-inspired groove that it had, and it made me want to reach back into my toolkit of 90s vibes to create something inspired by A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders, specifically their use of layering multiple breaks with MPC grooves.
