NOTE: Made this review two years ago and all of this remains true!

One of the best games I've ever played by a company who communicates with the community and presents a company ethos and business model that stands out among a sea of premium battle-passes, pay-to-win in-game currencies, FOMO manipulation, and general greed.

Aside from a still-exciting gameplay loop, what keeps me coming back is that I can drop into a game with total strangers and be almost guaranteed a good experience, which can't be said for other popular team-based games.

To say that this is simply because your enemies are AI instead of other players would be a disservice to how much the game is thoughtfully designed to revolve around cooperation and coordination. Your goal isn't to "pop off" to carry the team in spite of your teammates as other team based games would encourage - you're meant to succeed as a unit.

DRG at its core is a bunch of dwarves who have the whole of Hoxxes against them and only each other at their backs - what else would that produce but countless moments of wholesome dwarven camaraderie? Rock and Stone, miners!
