Connect to a Wi-Fi network not listed in the Google Home app

If you're unable to find your Wi-Fi network in the list of available Wi-Fi networks when setting up your Google smart speaker or display, try these steps.

Initial checklist

Before you proceed, make sure that:

  • Your mobile device is able to connect directly to the same network from your current location.
  • You're within 15-20 feet of your Wi-Fi router.
  • You have a strong Wi-Fi connection in the location you're trying to set up the speaker or display.
  • If you're attempting to set up your speaker or display on a 5 GHz WiFi connection, your mobile device supports 5 GHz.

      • WPA2
    3. Enter the password.
