  • Your history is a context, not a cage. In our latest #GHFLeadershipSeries, we’ve been diving into one of the most transformative texts for youth development: "The Courage to Be Disliked" by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. For many young people in Bexley, "survival mode" is a daily reality. When you are constantly navigating the friction of social media "likes," peer judgment, and the weight of past mistakes, it’s easy to feel like your life is a script written by someone else. At Goshen Haven, we use these five core pillars to help young people reclaim their agency: 1️⃣ Reclaiming the "Here and Now": Your past does not have a vote in your future. We move from survival to leadership by focusing on the power of the present moment. 2️⃣ The Courage to be Authentic: True belonging isn't found in universal approval. It’s found in the safety of being yourself—even when it doesn't fit everyone's expectations. 3️⃣ Solving the Root of Anxiety: Most struggles are, at their core, relationship struggles. Our #AMBIT framework helps young people mentalize and navigate how they relate to others without losing themselves. 4️⃣ Separating Tasks: You are not responsible for other people’s moods or opinions. Learning to set boundaries is the first step toward a grievance-free life. 5️⃣ Using Your Equipment: We don’t focus on "fixing" what a young person was born into. We focus on the tools they already have to build a stable, intentional future. Leadership isn't about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having the courage to be your own person in a world that constantly asks you to be someone else. Which of these pillars resonates most with your own leadership journey? Let’s discuss in the comments. #YouthLeadership #BexleyHub #MentalHealthMatters #TheCourageToBeDisliked #SocialImpact #GHFLeadership #AdlerianPsychology #IdentityConfidence

  • Great to see this important conversation being led by the National Youth Agency and partners, including The King's Trust At Goshen Haven, we see first-hand how youth unemployment is often not just an economic issue, but a reflection of earlier, unmet needs — disengagement, lack of safe spaces, and limited early support. That’s why our work focuses on the space before crisis — creating environments where young people can reconnect, rebuild confidence, and develop the stability needed to move forward into education, training, and employment. Stronger cross-sector collaboration is key, and we’re encouraged to see this being prioritised through the National Youth Strategy. Looking forward to listening to the full discussion and continuing to be part of the solution.

  • “No” is a complete sentence. In our book of the week, Boundary Boss by Terri Cole, we’re reflecting on a powerful idea: "Your boundaries are the distance at which you can love both yourself and others." For many young people, people-pleasing can feel like the safest way to belong. Saying “yes” becomes a habit — even when it comes at the cost of their own needs. But genuine belonging should never require someone to abandon themselves. At Goshen Haven Foundation, we see boundaries as a key part of wellbeing and identity development. As we build our youth hub in Bexley, we are focused not just on creating a physical space, but on shaping a culture where: • “No” is respected • “Yes” is honest • Frustration is treated as useful information, not something to suppress Through the AMBIT framework, we aim to create an environment grounded in mutual respect, reflection, and safe conversations. Healthy boundaries help young people develop self-respect, confidence, and the ability to build relationships that do not require them to lose themselves. #YouthWellbeing #Boundaries #YouthDevelopment #Leadership #GHF

  • March is Women's History Month — a time to recognise the impact, resilience, and leadership of women who continue to shape our communities and the futures of the next generation. While the video reflects the spirit of International Women's Day, the message extends far beyond one day. Celebrating women means recognising their role in creating safer spaces, stronger communities, and opportunities for young people to thrive. At Goshen Haven Foundation, we believe that when women are supported and empowered, they help build environments where young people feel seen, heard, and protected. This month, we celebrate the women who lead with compassion, courage, and purpose. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInLeadership #WomenWhoLead #SocialImpact #YouthWellbeing #CommunityImpact #MentalHealthAwareness #PurposeDriven #GHF

  • There are young people who are not visibly in crisis — but are quietly struggling. In schools, youth organisations and families, many challenges go unnoticed until behaviour escalates or attendance drops. At Goshen Haven Foundation (GHF), we believe early conversations matter. We’re launching In the Gaps — GHF Wellbeing Series, a weekly breakdown of key youth wellbeing challenges including: • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) • Social anxiety • Cyberbullying • Emotional regulation • Screen overwhelm Each post will clarify what to look for and how to respond supportively. If you work with young people, we invite you to follow the series and share within your networks. Connection should come before correction. High IQ doesn’t protect you from bad decisions. Unregulated emotion can override intelligence in seconds. I’ve seen it in executive teams under growth pressure. In geopolitical rooms discussing security and stability. In resilience projects connected to Ukraine. The bottleneck is rarely capability. It’s state. Your brain is a prediction machine. Emotions are the settings. They determine what you see as threat. What you interpret as opportunity. What you believe is possible for you. When stress becomes chronic, your perceived options shrink. When fear lingers, ambition becomes cautious. When identity feels exposed, you rename avoidance as “strategy.” From the outside, it looks like: • “I’m just being realistic.” • “Timing isn’t right.” • “I need more data.” Inside, it’s often a nervous system optimizing for safety. Think about your last big decision. Was it made from grounded clarity or from tension you were trying to reduce? From conviction or from the need to prove something? Most of us don’t lack ambition. We lack regulation. And once regulation shifts, something powerful happens... You don’t magically become smarter. You become more accurate. You see more options. You tolerate more uncertainty. You stop confusing discomfort with danger. This is why I no longer see emotional intelligence as a “soft skill.” It’s decision hygiene. It’s leadership infrastructure. And perhaps the bigger question is collective; What emotional baseline are we normalizing in our teams? Permanent urgency? Low-grade anxiety? Pressure disguised as performance? Then we wonder why clarity feels rare. If you don’t know what to pursue right now, it may not be a strategy problem. It may be the state from which you are choosing. ♻️ Kindly repost to share with others Follow Benjamin Bargetzi for more on Neuroscience, Psychology & Future Tech

  • New month. New momentum. March is a reminder that progress doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful. Move forward — with your goals, your growth, and your healing. Not with pressure. With intention. As we step into this month, here’s a framework we’re holding onto at Goshen Haven Foundation: M – Move forward A – Allow yourself to grow at your own pace R – Remember you are not alone C – Choose courage over comparison H – Hold onto hope At GHF, we’re continuing to build safe, structured spaces that support young people aged 14–23 across the UK. This month, you’ll begin to see more of that work unfold. If you’re passionate about youth wellbeing, community support, or early intervention, stay connected. Intentional progress starts here. #NewMonth #YouthWellbeing #MentalHealthUK #CommunityBuilding #GHF

  • "We aren’t here to reinvent the wheel in Bexley. We’re here to help turn it." Building a youth hub is about so much more than securing a physical space. It’s about the culture inside those walls. It’s about creating a sanctuary of safety and earning trust that is built over time, not overnight. As we work toward establishing the Goshen Haven Foundation (GHF) hub in Bexley, our focus isn't just on what we can build, but on who we can support. We are deeply committed to: • Learning: Understanding the unique needs of young people in our local streets. • Collaborating: Partnering with those who have been doing the work for years. • Safeguarding: Uncompromising standards in everything we do. • Complementing: Filling the gaps in the sector rather than competing with existing services. A safety net is only as strong as the people holding it. We believe that when we work together, we create a stronger net for young people to land in—well before they reach a crisis point. Bexley leaders & practitioners: Let’s grab a coffee. We’d love to hear your insights on building a secure future for our youth. ☕️ DM to connect. #Bexley #Safeguarding #YouthWork #GHF #CommunityTrust #SouthEastLondon #SocialImpact #YouthHub #MentalHealthSupport #ListenFirst #LocalPartnerships

Early intervention is more than a strategy—it is a necessity. We must shift our focus toward preventative support today, rather than waiting to repair the damage after a crisis has already occurred. It’s time to close the cracks before young people fall through them.

The "Gap" isn't just a metaphor—it's where too many young people are living. Right now, thousands of young people are sitting "between systems." • They are waiting for a CAMHS referral. • They are transitioning out of formal education. • Or they are falling through the cracks because they aren't "in crisis enough" to trigger statutory support—yet. At GHF, we believe that support shouldn't only be a response to a fire. It should be the foundation that prevents the fire from starting. Safe, consistent spaces should exist before crisis points, not only after them. Preventative, community-based support is the difference between a young person escalating into burnout and finding the stability to lead. By providing "listen-first" sanctuaries—like our phone-free Pop-Up Pods—we aren't just giving them a place to sit; we are giving them a place to land, breathe, and be seen. We are building a bridge for the "quietly struggling." Because no young person should have to reach a breaking point just to be heard. Let’s change the narrative from reactive to relational. #YouthWork #MentalHealthPrevention #SouthEastLondon #SocialImpact #Bexley #CommunitySupport #EarlyIntervention #ListenFirst #GoshenHavenFoundation #YouthLeadership
