Sully & Jiqui Deliver Their First-Ever Collaboration, “Sweat”

Two of bass music's most forward-thinking producers, Sully and Jiqui, join forces for the first time on their long-awaited collaboration, “Sweat,” arriving Friday, August 7 via WAKAAN. Built around an unforgettable vocal that nearly never saw an official release, the single transforms an unfinished idea into one of both artists’ most exciting collaborations to date.

Although the collaboration marks their first official release together, “Sweat” has been years in the making. Originally written around an early Jiqui demo, the lead vocal stuck with Sully long after hearing it for the first time, even incorporating the original version into his live sets. Rather than letting the concept disappear, the pair revisited it together, stripping everything away and rebuilding the record from the ground up.

“‘Sweat’ started coming together about a year ago after Jordan (Jiqui) shared an older demo featuring the lead vocal. I always loved the vocal and even played his original first version in my sets for a while. After he decided to shelve the original version, we gave it a new life by building an entirely new record around that vocal from the ground up. I think the final song captures both of our tastes really well. We've each spent years experimenting with different styles, and it feels rewarding to finally collaborate now that we've both found the sonic direction that feels most authentic to us.” – Sully

The powerhouse duo used the vocal as the foundation for an entirely new song, combining years of individual artistic growth into a collaboration that feels distinctly representative of both producers. Refining their individual sounds ultimately made the collaboration stronger, allowing each producer's strengths to remain unmistakably present.

Released via WAKAAN, the record captures two producers operating at the height of their creative confidence while breathing new life into an idea that was always meant to be heard.
