Single Post

A single post is the page where individual blog topics are described in minute detail. As the author, you can cover every necessary detail in your single posts, including featured images, embedded media, and reference links.

You can find the single post settings in the WordPress customizer at: Appearance > Customize > Post Types > Single Post.

In addition to the featured image, you can add images and videos to your posts via the media manager. You can also add or embed related or reference links to the topics within your posts.

Single Post with Astra Free

With Astra free, you get several customization options, so the single blog post page appears with a neat and modern design even when using the free version of the Astra theme. Astra Pro unlocks additional features and brings the single post customization to the next level.

Here are the customization options available with Astra free:

Single Post Title and Banner Layouts

For the single post, you can customize the title area with full control over the placement of the featured image, title, post meta, etc.

To access these options, please navigate to Customize > Post Types > Single Post > Post Title Area. There, you will see the options to select a banner layout, post structure, post meta, and alignment.

Also, you can hide any element in the list by clicking on the “eye” icon on it (click the “eye” icon one more time if you decide to have the element displayed again).

  • Banner Layouts
    • Layout 1 – Standard layout with customizable title placement and specific featured image placement. For example, you can select the featured image to appear in a full size behind the primary container.
    • Layout 2 – Alternative layout with enhanced visual options. In this layout, you can use the featured image as a background image and apply an overlay color for a more visually appealing presentation.
  • Structure:
    • Featured Image – multiple customizations for the featured image
    • Title
    • Meta – choose default divider
    • Breadcrumb
    • Excerpt
    • Taxonomies – Categories or Tags in Badge or Underline style
  • Meta
    • Author – with avatar and prefix
    • Date – published or last updated
    • Comments
    • Taxonomies – up to three taxonomies

Note

The featured image is disabled by default for the single posts. If you do not see the featured image on your single posts, please enable it from the Post Title Area mentioned above.

Organizing Post Elements

You can modify the way posts are displayed on the front end using the Structure and Meta sections. These sections allow you to:

  • Set the order of elements – Drag and drop elements to arrange them in your preferred display order
  • Hide any element – Click the “eye” icon to hide elements (click again to show them)
  • Customize meta information – Control which metadata is displayed and how it appears

This flexibility ensures your posts are organized exactly the way you want them presented to your audience.

Post Title Design

In the post title area, you can control design elements to enhance the single post title. To do so, navigate to Customize > Post Types > Single Post > Post Title Area > Design

  • Colors – change the title, text, or link colors
  • Typography – change the title, text, or meta font options
  • Inner Elements Spacing – increase or decrease the spacing between the elements in the post title area.

With Astra Pro modules of Blog Pro, Spacing, Typography, and Colors, you get additional design options. Learn more about it here: Single Post with Blog Pro.

In addition to the title controls, you can also select the default container and sidebar layout and styles for the single posts. By default, the Narrow container layout is chosen without any sidebar. You can change this under Single Post Customization.

Content Width

With the content width control, you can choose the default content width specified in the Global Container settings or a custom content width for single posts.

This option enables box shadows for images added to the website. This applies to the single post and other areas of the website. You can disable or enable it under Single Post customization.

You will find this option under the Design section in Related posts.

New Structural and Meta-Level Options Under the Banner Area

Astra 4.6.0 introduces a new section focused on making your titles and meta details more awesome. You can now easily tweak excerpts and images all in one place.

To unlock this feature:

  1. Ensure the Astra Pro plugin is installed and activated, and enable the Blog Pro module within the Astra Pro modules.
  2. In the Single Post section, navigate to Author Box > Author Info, and turn on the social icons.

Avatar Customization (Free and Pro)
