Karen D. Beckwith
Karen D. Beckwith’s masterfully executed prints create immersive experiences through her use of collagraphs, lithography, screenprints, and collage.
Karen earned a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art in 1987, then completed the Tamarind Institute Master Printer Fellowship in 1998, where she became a member of a prestigious group of printmakers. Beckwith is one of only a little over a hundred printmakers internationally who have a registered chop mark with Tamarind Institute.
Beckwith was accepted as the first lesbian artist to be archived at The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, culminating in a recent solo exhibition. She also received a citation from Ohio State Senator Nickie Antonio, recognizing her contribution to the LGBTQ community when becoming an archiving artist.
Karen completed a print residency at Texture Printmaking Studio in Taiwan at the end of 2024. While in Taiwan, Karen received certificates of appreciation from National Kaohsiung Normal University for presenting a workshop in eco-friendly lithography and from Tainan University of Technology for presenting her work to the art community.
Karen’s work has been exhibited widely in the Cleveland area, as well as internationally, specifically in Russia and Taiwan. Her work is held in prominent collections, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Progressive Art Collection, Columbia College, Transdigm International, and the LGBT Center in Cleveland. Karen currently resides in Cleveland, OH, and continues to develop new work at K2 Art Studio in Midtown and Ping Pong Press in Cleveland Heights.
