Just 31 Parenting Products Reviewers Say You Will Inevitably Need

I know, unsolicited advice isn’t something you generally want, but these reviewers know what they are talking about and are here to help.

    1. Some muslin burp cloths — probably go ahead and get like 200 of 'em to help cover your shoulder from spit-ups, wipe away messes, and dry the spit that seems to be constantly pouring out of your baby's mouth.

You are gonna need a lot of burp cloths to deal with spit up, spills, and just to have around for who knows what. Muslin versions being superior because they are softer and super absorbent which are two things you definitely want when dealing with a newborn that has sensitive skin and all the messes that are gonna come from them.

Promising reviews: "Seriously though, get as many as you can! You’ll always need burp cloths, advice is to keep several in different rooms around the house so you’re frantically running from one room to the next, looking for a cloth you KNOW you saw earlier. Best thing about these is how soft and absorbent they are, they’re also gentle on my baby’s skin. So far I’ve found absolutely no flaws." —justchui

"When I was a new mom I ordered several different brands of cute burp cloths with all different designs and colors. None of them come close to comparing to these. These absorb so much better and are super soft and easy to clean. I use them every single day and still use them with my toddler just to clean stuff up or wipe his nose when he is sick as it's soft and doesn't irritate him. Highly recommend these to any parent of babies!" —Momming Simplified

    2. A diaper cream applicator (invented by a mom!) to easily pick up and cleanly distribute creams and lotions without you ending up with gunk all under your nails.

IDK about you, but the thought of cream getting stuck under my nails gives me the ick like no other. This is seriously such a genius invention, I think any parent should have it. Plus, it provides an even distribution of diaper cream, and you don't have to contort your hand into awkward positions to apply it to the right places.

Promising reviews: "Everyone needs this!! This is literally the best thing when applying cream to a baby's bottom, it keeps germs that are on your hands away from that area." —Christina

"Yes, it’s weird. I laughed (to myself) when I got one as a baby gift. Then my baby got her first rash, and after wrestling a diaper closed with fingers covered in diaper cream, I remembered this and, oh boy, what a lifesaver. It applies cream evenly and wipes clean. I now have two and will probably buy a third for the diaper bag. It’s also nice for people with sensory issues or who are new to diaper changing. Yes, it’s weird, but it’s also super useful." —jp

Get it from Amazon for $6.99 (also a mini version for your diaper bag, a two-pack, and a variety of other colors).

Check out a TikTok of the Pink Stuff in action.

Promising review: "This paste is absolutely everything! If you are a parent or pet owner you need this. It literally removed PERMANENT marker from my walls, table, kids toys. I was devastated when my 2-year-old found a permanent marker and marked up my house while I was helping her brother one day, but all fear is gone. This product cleaned it off of everything with EASE! Buy the biggest container you can find and never run out!" —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $5.97 (also available in multi-packs).

    4. A Fisher-Price baby play mat — it'll grow with your baby from lying sessions to tummy time to sitting and playing to taking the piano on the go for performances in any room. The mirror can also be moved so your little one can always see their gorgeous face. And yes, the purple monkey song IS a banger.

I saw this thing allllll over TikTok (and because of that it kept selling out), but people can't stop raving about it. It can be adjusted to grow with your baby so they can start laying and kicking the piano, transition to tummy time where they can look at themself in the mirror, and then when they can sit up you can move the piano so they can use their hands, and eventually they can even take the piano on the go. There are over 65 songs and sounds and a bunch of different toys and textures for them to play with.

Promising reviews: "Every single parent needs to buy this. It’s hands down the best thing I got my daughter. She started using it at 1 month old and at 8 months old now, it is still her favorite toy!! As a newborn, it’s great as a kick piano and play mat. Now that she’s older, she brings the piano everywhere with her (it detaches). I truly love this product and I’m not gonna lie … the songs are fire!" —Denise

"This toy was the MVP in our house for our newborn baby. The purple monkey song is the GOAT and brings back so many memories with our baby. The rings and toys are still being played with today! Loved that the mat is washable for any spit up and other messes. Piano turns off eventually on its own thank god. Our baby loved watching the lights and we loved singing all the songs! Baby is almost 9-months-old and comes back to this toy every now and then." —Chanley

    5. A set of magnetic locks so you can keep your kiddos out of your cabinets without having to put hideous locks on the outside or worry about drilling holes and causing damage.

The set comes with locks (with strong 3M double-sided tape on the back) and two keys.

Promising review: "Every parent needs these. These are really easy to install, you can use the sticky command strips they come with or screws for a stronger hold. They function well and hold up to even a little toddler tornado tugging and pulling at the drawer. I’ve used them on cupboard doors as well as drawers. The magnets are strong so they work on thick doors. I’ve had to remove a couple and they came off without any damage. I like that they allow you to lock cabinets while also being hidden and discrete. These do not work for lazy Susans but we have them on every other cabinet in our kitchen and bathroom." —Kaylie Sirek

Get a set of 12 from Amazon for $29.99+ (available in four quantities).

    6. A fan-favorite spot remover because baby poop is ~vibrant~ and has a tendency to escape their diaper at the most inconvenient times. Like seriously, how are diapers letting this happen?! But until we solve that problem, this stain remover is here to help you get those bright yellow stains out of their cutest onesie.

It can even work on grass, blood, oil, and other stubborn stains.

Promising reviews: "So I am a mom of a nourished, happy, almost 9-month-old boy.... Who has given us more than our fair share of mustard yellow to orange, bright breast milk diaper blowouts? Let me tell you, they make one heck of a stain. I had Resolve stain remover and Honest Company stain remover... A stain still remained after using and scrubbing. This stuff, Grandma’s Secret, WORKS. What I do is rinse the clothing of any remaining 'residue,' spray with Grandma's Secret, scrub it in a bit, let it sit for a few minutes, and either I’ll rinse it out after or it may sit for a day or so before going through the wash, but either way, STAIN IS GONE!" —Mellisa B.

"If you do laundry, you need this. If you get stains/spots on your clothes, you need this. If I get a spot that I don't think with come out of my clothes, I put a small amount of remover on it and rub it in with the tip of the bottle. Then I put it straight in the wash — no waiting needed. Get this!" —Sarah J

Get it from Amazon for $6.59+ (available in two sizes and various multi-packs).

    7. Some Halo sleepsack swaddles that'll bundle your baby snug as a bug in a rug so they can experience that hug-like sensation of being back in the womb.

Three babies lying down, each swaddled differently: arms in, hand-to-face, and arms out. Labels describe each swaddling style
Sleeping baby wrapped in a soft white swaddle on a patterned surface, promoting baby sleep products
    Amazon

Maybe I'm just naive, but before getting pregnant, I had zero idea babies slept in a swaddle like this. I thought we were either wrapping them up in a large blanket-like swaddle or just letting them be free. This brand was recommended to me by a few people because it's on the more affordable side and has different configurations for babies who like to sleep in different positions. You can have both arms in, one arm in and one out, or both arms out, which is a great option for when your baby is starting to roll and needs to have their arms free for safety. There's also a zipper that starts on the bottom so you can still change their diaper in the night without having to fully unwrap and rewrap them each time.

Promising reviews: "The Halo swaddle is a MUST-HAVE for a newborn. I attempted to swaddle my first child with blankets and that was close to impossible. This swaddle made it so easy and it was easy to use, which is what you need in your postpartum era. It was easy to wash, warm for the winter, and improve the quality of our baby’s sleep!" —Allie

"This sleep sack is amazing! My 3-week-old daughter is not fond of being swaddled, and we tried so many different sleep sacks until we found this one. I love that her arms can be exposed and it’s so cozy and keeps her warm. Highly recommend!" —Rhi

Get it from Amazon for $34.95+ (available in three sizes and 16 designs).

    8. A pack of inconspicuous corner guards you can use to baby-proof your furniture without having those ugly pads covering every inch of your house. Hopefully, now if your toddler does bang into the coffee table, they won't spend the next two hours sobbing cause this will shield them from most of the pain.

Application is super easy, just wipe the surface, apply three of the included adhesive stickers, place it on the corner, and hold it for 30 seconds.

Promising review: "Must-have. I love these. We just moved in with family, and they had a coffee table with super-sharp corners, and I have a little one who pulls up on everything and is trying to walk. To say I was on edge is an understatement. My sister-in-law didn’t want an obnoxious baby-proof item around her house, but these were so discreet she didn’t even notice that I had installed them. They are so soft that my little one started gumming on them to soothe his gums, LOL. They were super easy to install, stuck on very well, and with not much effort, and came with plenty, so if I need them, I’ll have them handy. Super satisfied! If you’re thinking about getting, then please do!" —Amazon Customer

Get a set of 12 from Amazon for $9.98 (also available in sets of 18 and 24).

    9. A rechargeable nose aspirator that has three suction levels and two silicone tips, so you don't have to watch your kiddo suffer with a stuffed-up nose that just will not go away. There's even a built-in light and music to try and distract your baby from what you're really doing.

I'm sorry, I love my baby girl immensely, but there is NO WAY I'm taking what's essentially a straw, putting it in her nose and SUCKING HER BOOGERS OUT?! Like, you've got to be kidding me, just the thought of that makes me gag. Sure, you can try to tell me there's a little filter inside so they won't actually get in my mouth, but no, I will not be partaking in that. I would much rather pay a little extra to have it done automatically and wayyyy the heck away from my mouth. A little insider tip: grab some saline drops to help loosen stuff up before going in with the aspirator.

Promising reviews: "Every parent needs this. This is likely the single best invention for infants. She is distracted by the lights and music and actually smiles while I use it. Very effective and easy to clean!" —Amy A

"As a mom of four, I’ve tried my fair share of baby products, and when it comes to keeping little noses clear, a good nasal aspirator is a game-changer. I recently tried the Grownsy Baby Nasal Aspirator, and I have to say — it’s a lifesaver! One of the things I love most about this aspirator is how easy it is to use. The design is simple and intuitive. The soft silicone tip is gentle on my baby’s tiny nostrils, and the suction is strong enough to clear mucus without causing discomfort. This is the only nasal aspirator I found that does not leak. Cleaning is a breeze. The parts easily come apart, and I love that it’s washable." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $39.99+ (available in 10 colors).

    10. A buuuunch of disposable diaper-changing mats for those times you have to use the changing station in the bathroom, but you cannot fathom setting your baby directly on the table that may have never been cleaned in the history of time.

Promising reviews: "Must have for baby changing station. One item I cannot emphasize enough for baby cleaning/changing station. It absorbs quite a bit of liquid and doesn’t leak or smell." —Aatresh Karnam

"These are perfect for on-the-go use. I have definitely been caught off guard with pee in the middle of a diaper change, and these absorb really well. Better than the changing mats because, although waterproof, they don't absorb, so the pee just runs everywhere. I even use them on our home changing table just in case of an accident. Also, really good for changing a poopy diaper, so nothing gets on your changing pad. You can just roll everything up in it when you're done and dispose. They are a good size as well to make sure you have everything covered and contained." —Davena C.

Get 100 from Amazon for $25.99.

    11. A Tub Topper that attaches to the lip of the tub with suction cups to help protect parents on the outside from the constant splashes, while also working as a toy tray/play spot, since the edge of the tub is not wide enough for car races.

A bathtub filled with bubbles, featuring floating toys on the edge, in a bathroom setting for a shopping article
    Amazon

Promising review: "Like you, when I first came across this, I was hesitant because of the price. It's a bit steep, I thought to myself. But then, after another night of bathtime with two towels on the ground to soak up the water my child had splashed all over, I took the plunge and bought it. And definitely worth it a million times over. My child LOVES the extra space for toys and I love the water staying in the tub. I definitely and highly suggest buying it. You won't be disappointed! Or your child!!" —Brianna

Get it from Amazon for $44.95+ (available in two sizes and four colors).

    12. A flip-up outlet box which will prevent their tiny fingers from finding their way into the socket *and* stop them from ripping out all your cords (but is still easily accessible for adults who know how to open it).

This easily screws into the faceplate of your outlet so you don't have to worry about adding any extra holes to your wall.

Promising reviews: "If you have a kid who figures out all of the plug in outlet covers or unplugs everything, this is what you need." —Jess

"This is the best outlet protector I have tried, and I've tried several. From the simple socket plugs to outlet covers, my son could get access to the outlets at the age of 9 months. This one, however, securely covers the entire outlet and screws into the existing base. It is difficult for someone (even an adult) with small hands to open, requiring a good-sized spread of the hand to press on the latches on either side of the unit to lift the lid. The beauty of it, though, is that you can plug things into the outlet without the kids being able to get into it AND add or remove a device from the socket with ease. Definitely a good investment and should last for several years without being disturbed by curious and grubby little hands. It's a keeper." —AntKathy

Get a pack of two from Amazon for $6.99+ (available in two sizes and a four-pack).

    13. Some Aquaphor baby ointment that can help deal with so many problems — drool rash, dry skin, diaper rash, chapped lips — you can even pop some on yourself when you remember you haven't done your skincare routine in three days. Yes, there are some more ~specialized~ versions out there, but why pay more for less product that can also help fix fewer problems?!

As you can imagine, babies' skin is sensitive, and there are soooo many different ointments and treatments out there, it can be hard to know. I think I'm drawn to this for a few reasons: I personally use Aquaphor products and love them so I have experience with them and feel comfortable with them, it has sooo many different uses so I can just have one product on hand instead of a bunch of different ones, and it's pretty cheap (especially compared to other products) and comes in a hefty size so you won't have to constantly buy refills.

Promising reviews: "Just get it. You may think you won't need it but you will. My daughter suffered from dry skin and Aquaphor was the only healing ointment/lotion that worked. Her cheeks would be bright red from all the irritation from the cold and dry air. Once she put this on, it would ease up a lot. This is also a godsend for all diaper rashes or redness. I put this on for every single diaper change just as a precaution and it has worked like a charm." —E Lee

"I can't recommend Aquaphor enough! It's been a lifesaver for my baby's delicate skin. Whenever I've tried other products, my little one ended up with diaper rash and discomfort. But with Aquaphor, his skin stays moisturized and nourished. It's truly the best." —Rosa

Get it from Amazon for $12.97+ (available in two sizes, a bundle with a travel-size tube, and a two-pack).

    14. A five-pack of clear stove knob covers so you can feel good knowing no little hands can reach up and accidentally turn on the stove. And since they are clear, they won't be an eyesore. Unlike some baby-proofing supplies, these *aren't* also adult-proof — meaning you can just flip 'em open when you need to turn the stove on, no need to remove the whole thing.

Promising reviews: "These are fantastic, and absolutely worth it! Our toddler almost started a fire in our kitchen before we realized these things exist! They pop right on and are easy for adults to use but little ones can't figure it out. After our toddler realized she can't open them, she completely lost interest in the stove! If you have a stove with accessible knobs for little ones, these are an absolute must have! They're great quality, and can save you big time!" —Ashley

"My son was reaching for the knobs as soon as he was able to walk and talk enough. These covers did the trick by making it impossible for my 13-month-old to turn the knob without opening it." —Spartacus

    16. An Oogiebear nose and ear cleaner designed to gently clear out those teensy tiny little ears and noses with a little rubber scoop and a bear head that prevents you from accidentally going in too far.

Promising reviews: "Must have! This thing is amazing; it works very well for us. Good length, and it's soft/firm. I was able to gently scoop my 4-month-old's ear wax and pick out her sticky, crusty boogers. She enjoys being clean, so she sat/laid down very still for us. I would definitely buy this for a baby shower gift and definitely recommend to anyone." —P. T.

"Love these things! So easy to get those little boogies out of my newborn’s nose. I think it’s worth it to get the two pack and have the little case for them! Otherwise I feel like I’d lose it if it was just one loose." —Catherine Christina

Promising reviews: "Pretty awesome design that really traps all odors! Fits a good deal of diapers as well before needing to be changed out for a new bag. At first, I did not like the continuous bag feature where you have to tie it off to end and start a new bag, but now I’ve realized it’s quite convenient so I don’t have to go get another bag and put it in, it’s already there." —Susan P.

Promising review: "A MUST-HAVE for every household. I bought this for my daughter because mosquitoes love her; however, I got stung by a wasp two days after receiving it. She suggested trying it on the sting. I can only say that every person, especially parents NEED this item. She followed the instructions, built suction, held for 20 seconds, then repeat. Each time she released the suction and lifted it, there was moisture around the sting. The pain was drastically reduced immediately. After repeating, the pain was almost gone. We stopped at that point. After about 10 minutes it started to hurt again and we did the same thing. It alleviated the pain again. I did still have bit of swelling and redness which was gone 24 hours later. After the second go round the pain did not return. A bit of discomfort if I bent my wrist (where I was stung) but nothing much at all. I usually have a pretty strong reaction to stings - not allergic, but pain, localized swelling, rashes. This reduced all of it to almost nothing. For the price, it should be in every first aid kit. I cannot recommend it more." —Kindle Customer

My toddler loves yogurt/applesauce pouches but started purposely dumping and squeezing the contents out. But these make it absolutely impossible for her to do that without making it difficult to eat! I tested them, and it’s SO easy to drink out of, but I was unable to squeeze anything out. 10/10 recommend. I’m definitely buying more" —Amanda

"These are amazing! I bought two sets of them so I can keep some in our diaper bag (or in case we lose one). We use these every single day for our 12-month-old with her yogurt (Gogo squeeze) and her fruit and veggie pouches! Seriously, love them. We previously had yogurt/fruit all over because she would squeeze them. My husband accidentally stepped on the pouch with this on, and it still didn't squeeze out! Once your baby figures it out (ours did quickly), it's a game changer. I tried the pouch holders with the handles, but she just swung it around, and it still spilled out. This is what you want!" —Shem Slater

Promising review: "Yes!!! Buy them, NOW! BEST THINGS EVER!! My little one is 10-months-old and a little miss independent. She HATES when I have to help feed her. She LOVES the applesauce pouches, but always squeezes them and makes the biggest mess ever! I thought these would be worth a shot. I was right!! Works awesome for her with juice boxes, too! AND she's happy because mommy doesn't have to help!! I would definitely buy them again, and I told EVERYONE with littles how much they need to buy these!" —Kaila

    26. A toothbrush holder and dispenser so you can finally grant your kids the independence they have been begging for, without worrying about the *disaster* they will make in the bathroom. Say goodbye to dealing with globs of toothpaste on the counter and soggy toothbrushes thrown about, because now everything fits perfectly into its own place.

Check out a TikTok of the toothpaste dispenser in action.

This includes a toothpaste dispenser (that'll squeeze out every last ounce!), four cups and holders, and a place to store your toothbrushes.

Promising reviews: "You need one! I love this! So easy to install and holds nice and tight to the wall. The toothbrushes sit nicely in the holder and are easy for my kids to grab and out back on their own. The two gargle cups are nice but we added little Dixie cups to ours instead. The toothpaste function works really well and isn’t messy for our kids. I highly recommend this!" —Sarah C.

"I love this item! I saw it originally on TikTok and thought it would be perfect for our bathroom! We have one bathroom upstairs and five people who use it. This cleared up so much counter space for us! There are ventilation holes where the cups go to help make sure they dry properly. The toothpaste dispenser has really been working to get every last drop out of the tube. I would definitely recommend for a family or kids' bathroom. There is also a little storage compartment behind the toothpaste that is great for extra brushes, Q-tips, or flossers." —Sariyah J

    27. Or a self-closing toothpaste cap perfect for when your kiddos are old enough to brush their own teeth but may not have perfected putting the cap back on or not squeezing ~massive~ globs onto their brush (and prob the counter, too).

Promising reviews: "Every little kid bathroom needs one. If you have kids or messy teens buy this now! I was loosing my cool when it came to wasting and smearing toothpaste all over the sink in my little boys bathroom. This has cut down on 90% of the mess and waste. Easy enough for a five-year-old to squeeze the tube but the self sealing feature kinda chops off the paste flow so he doesn’t smear it everywhere and gets the correct amount of paste." —Charlie Yang

"Not only does it work great for my 4- and 5-year-old, but it also works great for the teenager who never puts the lid back on the toothpaste. This way, I have one less battle to fight in my house." —Ashley Moses

    28. A sleep-training alarm clock featuring different color lights to indicate whether it's time to stay in bed (red), almost time to get up (yellow), or time to start the day (green)!

Check out a TikTok of the alarm clock in action.

This can also be used as an alarm clock, timer, or sound machine.

Promising review: "Kid taking over your bed? YOU NEED THIS. I should have bought this a year ago when my son started regularly coming into my bed in the middle of the night. It was pure laziness on my part not wanting to get up and bring him back to his room, but I digress. His father and I finally decided it was time for everyone's sake to sleep train him (again) and this clock has been a lifesaver! Like other reviewers, he loves that it a.) has a name, b.) has a face that changes depending on the time of the day, and c.) he can choose what color night light he's feeling at the moment! I love that he can look at the color of Mella and knows when he needs to stay in his bed/room and when he can come out. It worked on the first night and I was so happy to hear him joyfully singing and playing in his room at 6:10 instead of doing the exact same thing IN MY BED. It's been great for everyone, and I highly recommend this product. My one warning is that this clock does not automatically account for daylight savings, so do yourself a favor and change your little one's clock before you go to bed that night!" —LG

    29. A large Newton travel crib and play yard, which packs up pretty compact, so you can make sure your little one has an actually comfy bed while you're on vacation. And when it isn't bedtime, you can unzip the whole side, so they have a clean place to play that *isn't* the hotel carpet that is probably ~disgusting.~

I got this for my daughter, and I can tell it makes a huuuuge difference. Pack-and-play mattresses and notoriously uncomfortable, but this one actually has some padding. It is also made from Newton's traditional material, that is breathable, unlike other brands. It's significantly larger than the old one I had, which I can tell is a lot more comfortable for my daughter. She is quite petite, but she flips and flops all over the place while she is sleeping, so having this space helps prevent her from slamming her head into the sides. If you have a bigger kiddo or someone who moves around a lot, you will definitely want this one so they don't feel squished in there. The only drawback is that it is a little bit larger when packed up (which makes sense since it's so much bigger when built). But honestly, that doesn't bother me too much. When we check it on an airplane, those extra few inches don't make a difference. I can see it becoming an issue if you already have limited space on a road trip, but we were able to fit it in my trunk with no issue (even though we were stuffed to the brim because babies have A LOT of stuff to travel with).

Promising review: "The deluxe travel crib and play-yard is exactly what I was looking for. My almost 2-year-old toddler is tall enough to climb out of a standard pack-and-play and won't sleep unless she is contained. (Which is fun to learn when you’re in a hotel room on vacation in a small town with limited shopping options 🫠). This is the only travel crib I could find that would keep her in so we can actually spend the night away from home again." —Heather

    30. A game-changing FridaBaby medicine dispenser syringe to put an end to the struggle of trying to force medicine into your baby. It'll save you time and suffering since you won't have to try (and fail) many times, prolonging your poor kiddo's misery.

Promising review: "This thing is worth its weight in gold! A must-have in my opinion because it makes life so much easier. We use it with gripe water or Tylenol. We bought it because she would cough and sputter because she wouldn't swallow well when given it in the cheek even in tiny amounts. It makes it a much faster process because all she has to do it suck like using a normal bottle or paci and she has never turned away because of taste either. It also happens to soothe like a regular paci afterward. Great buy." —Sullivan

    31. A pack of motion-activated toilet night-lights great for kids or adults who have to go to the bathroom but don't want to turn on the lights and risk losing all their sleepiness. And since it's motion-activated, you don't have to worry about anyone tripping on anything while trying to find the switch.

Promising review: "I absolutely love this product. Especially because with a husband and a son, they tend to sprinkle on the toilet seat in the middle of the night. With the color set to any bright color (like white, yellow, green, or blue) it illuminates every single sprinkle on the seat! You will no longer have a bottom wet with pee in the middle of the night! When I purchased this I bought a case of AAA batteries thinking I would have to change them often (with six people in the house they get used often). However I have not had to change the batteries once in a few months! Also the sensor is super sensitive so it turns on as you come through the door, or even a little before. Just a great product all around. Definitely recommend for households with children, you won't have to leave your bathroom light in all night anymore either! #MomWin." —Angela
