About Josephine

Hello! My name is Josie, or as my students call me, Ms. B. I have a bachelors degree in English Literature and a Masters in Education. I have both preschool and elementary experience. I taught preschool in San Diego, CA and I currently teach first grade for District of Columbia Public Schools. I am trained in the science of reading and specialize in pre-elementary and elementary phonics, reading, and writing. I believe that education is most impactful when it is responsive, inclusive, and joyful. My teaching philosophy centers on nurturing the whole child by creating a learning environment that values respect and exploration. My tutoring philosophy is grounded in the belief that every child is capable, curious, and worthy of an education that ignites their passion for learning.
