Take That announce Leeds return: Fans reflect on the band

Take That have announced they are returning to Leeds on the 19th and 20th April 2024. Leeds locals reflect on the band.

00:00 They're perfect showmen and they sing really well and their songs are songs.

00:07 They're poetic. They're not la la la-ing and filling in the gaps all the time.

00:12 I think they've really done well, quite honestly, but they've been too quiet for the last 18 months, two years.

00:20 Gary did a lot of things solo, but he needs to get back again.

00:26 I think that the best concerts they used to do were these great big spectacular ones.

00:33 I bought their album. I was quite a fan, but didn't they split up at one point?

00:38 Yeah, but now they're doing a comeback.

00:42 Yeah, it would be lovely to see that. I feel they were more better united than divided.

00:49 So I did used to like their songs.

00:52 I remember when Shine came up, I'd take that, when I was in primary school.

00:56 So that was the first time I actually heard them, which was a bit later on to what they normally released.

01:02 And then as I grew up, I realised that my mum was a huge Take That fan.

01:06 So I was listening to all their old songs and I'd probably go and see them.

01:12 I like Patience, Rule the World.

01:16 They were up for an Oscar for that, I think, but they didn't get there.

01:23 Personally, I think most of the songs are beautiful.

01:27 I remember Take That being very popular. Everybody wanted to be a Take That fan.

01:32 So I obviously had to go the opposite way.

01:35 They weren't my cup of tea, but I do recall them, Gary Barlow especially,

01:40 and the hairdos and the style of them.

01:45 I was a little bit more to the other side with Gary Newman and OMD.

01:52 I knew them prior to the 2000s when they came back through my younger relatives.

02:00 And they were all from Manchester, so really, that's why we are fans.
