Travis Kelce said on his New Heights podcast that the NFL is "overdoing it a little bit" when it comes to the coverage of he and Taylor Swift's relationship.

00:23 And I gotta say, I am guilty of being overly invested

00:27 I've made like 10 TikToks on it already,

00:29 but the NFL's gotta chill out just a little bit.

00:32 We don't need to pander her like 17 or 18 times

00:35 during a game.

00:36 The NFL's honestly acting like a professional athlete

00:39 has never dated someone famous before.

00:43 You never see her on the broadcast ever.

00:46 I think it's fun to show her.

00:47 I think people are invested in the situation,

00:50 but this also puts so much pressure on them.

00:52 They're still in the early stages of their relationship.

00:55 So we gotta relax just a little bit.

00:57 I'm trying to not let it make me hate Taylor Swift.

01:01 She made "Folklore," which I think is a great record.

01:05 I'm not into her pop records as much,

01:07 but I can't fully hate on her 'cause of that.

01:09 And it really shows she has a different level of fame.

01:12 I mean, she just has a different level of fame.

01:14 She put Travis Kelsey on the map, after all.

01:16 As far as Kelsey saying it, it's a podcast.

01:20 So you're speaking long form in a podcast.

01:23 I get it, people will say,

01:24 you're the central reason this happened,

01:26 friendship bracelets and all that.

01:28 But it was a big pop culture moment.

01:31 And you know how the media is, that feeds into it,

01:34 which allows the NFL to feed into it.

01:36 And then it goes overboard 'cause we don't need a Swift cam.

01:40 We don't need everyone to tell us they're a Swifty.

01:43 And I think there is a certain segment of the NFL fan base

01:46 that feels like their precious territory

01:49 is being encroached upon here.

01:51 In the end, is it a big deal?

01:53 Of course, it's not actually a big deal.

01:55 No one is getting harmed by this.

01:57 But I do think 24/7 ad nauseum coverage

02:02 has rubbed some people the wrong way.

02:04 - Not the Swifties though.

02:05 The Swifties are into this entire situation.

02:07 The NFL's revenue has gone way up.

02:09 I understand why they're showing her so much

02:12 because at the end of the day, the NFL's a business.

02:14 But I agree with you, we gotta relax,

02:16 pump the brakes just a little bit.

02:18 - And it does show you how big a deal she is

02:19 because the NFL is so popular,

02:21 yet they're bringing in perhaps an even added Democrat.
