Casual Minds Matter open new shop in Burnley Town Centre

Mental health charity Casual Minds Matter has recently opened a new shop in Burnley Town Centre, promoting well-being and support for the community.

00:00 Casual Minds Matter shop opened up last Saturday.

00:04 We had a seven week pop-up shop a couple of months ago in Burnley Centre which we just

00:09 gave it a try as a drop in centre for mental health.

00:14 You can just come and talk about it.

00:16 Plus obviously we were selling our own brand, Casual Minds Matter.

00:21 Really successful so we decided to go for a shop full time.

00:24 So we opened this last Saturday after five weeks of us doing it up.

00:31 So the idea being of course the profits from selling our brand, Casual Minds Matter, another

00:38 brand Casual Minds and Terrace Cult at the minute and then others to come online in the

00:43 next couple of weeks and months.

00:45 The profits go towards paying for the free mental health services that we give to the

00:49 people of Burnley, Pendle and Rosindale.

00:51 The mental health centre downstairs has got a group therapy room where we run evening

00:57 courses.

01:00 And at the minute we run sessions on different aspects of mental health on Friday afternoons.

01:07 So that's grief, anxiety, PTSD, suicide awareness and prevention and anger management.

01:15 We're looking to increase the amount of courses and services that we do when funds allow.

01:22 But there'll be the group room down there, also sort of like a chill out room where people

01:29 can talk a little bit more informally.

01:31 The office is going to be down there and then we've got two one to one rooms for a one to

01:37 one sort of counselling session.

01:39 Casual Minds Matter started in January 2022 as a men's mental health support group just

01:49 running one night at a church hall for two hours.

01:55 In fact it's 14 months ago now we decided we could do more if we went full time.

02:00 So we got office premises and we've been running full time since then.

02:05 It's a not for profit CIC so we're not funded by the government or anything or the NHS.

02:14 We get our funds from people doing fundraisers and a little bit of lottery funding etc.

02:21 A few people doing sponsored stuff for us etc.
