The light fantastic: The Tipping family Christmas display

Mark Tipping, of Preston, has been wowing crowds with his incredible house Christmas lights display for 12 years, and this year's is bigger and better than ever

00:16 - This is our 12th year this year.

00:43 We started about 12 years ago.

00:45 We used to put a few lights on our house.

00:48 We planted a Christmas tree in the front garden,

00:50 which was like four foot high now,

00:51 and it's like 30 foot high now.

00:54 We started putting a few lights on.

00:55 People used to come and look at them.

00:57 And then one gentleman once said one day,

00:58 and he said, "It's brilliant what you do with your house."

01:00 He said, "Why don't you do it for charity?"

01:02 So we thought, next year, yeah, we will do it for charity.

01:04 So we put more effort into it and did it for charity.

01:07 So we thought, what charity should we do it for?

01:09 So we thought, well, if it's Christmas,

01:10 we'll do it for children's charity.

01:13 So we do it for Derry and House,

01:14 and that's how it started.

01:16 (fireworks exploding)

01:19 - There's paper.

01:22 - And you carry on from five.

01:34 Five!

01:37 - Four!

01:38 Three!

01:40 Two!

01:41 One!

01:42 (crowd cheering)
