We spoke to Sunderland city centre shoppers following the confirmation its branch of Marks & Spencer will be closing.

00:03 Been coming for 50 years and I also worked in the shop many years ago in the 70s.

00:11 And I think it's terrible, absolutely terrible, what they're doing.

00:18 And they're bringing Sunderland, bringing it down.

00:21 Everybody's talking about that.

00:24 Right Avril, your thoughts please.

00:26 I'll really miss Marks & Spencer's because I like their bread and eggs and fruit and veg.

00:33 What are you going to do now then, after this is closed?

00:36 Well, Tesco is coming back so that's good.

00:39 Yeah, so why do you think it's closed then?

00:42 I'm not sure because it's always busy in the supermarket.

00:45 Margaret, you've been shopping here for a while I take it, and now it's going to close in the near future.

00:52 Oh, I'm going to miss it. I do all my weekly shopping here with my family.

00:57 We go in the restaurant, we meet once a week, my family and me all go upstairs to the restaurant.
