00:12 on the latest progress and developments on trade and investments by Germany to

00:16 Malaysia

00:16 and perhaps can you also elaborate somewhat on the administration's

00:20 challenge with regards to

00:22 the shift towards renewable energy in Malaysia.

00:25 Now for His Excellency Chancellor Schultz, the question is you had in 2022

00:31 spoke of a

00:32 "Zeitenwende" to signify a shift in German foreign and security policies

00:37 but with your greater focus now on Southeast Asia

00:40 or rather ASEAN context in general, how does Germany view Malaysia in terms of

00:45 bilateral

00:46 importance, trade as well as on regional issues?

00:50 Thank you. Well, within European Union,

00:55 Germany of course our largest trading partner and

01:00 you have invested a substantial

01:03 amount close to 15 billion dollars and in our discussions

01:08 as I mentioned in Finian and many

01:11 leading German companies, I am of course

01:14 extremely glad that they have chosen Malaysia to be

01:18 an important hub, center of excellence, training and important hub

01:22 in the region. So I look forward to further collaboration on this subject.

01:26 Although we have also said that training should be the focus,

01:31 we have 1,000 students here throughout

01:35 Germany, you have a few hundred in Malaysia, which is

01:38 something welcome but of course

01:42 working with many of the German companies for training and for

01:47 initial exposure

01:48 and in terms of renewable energy

01:51 there has been our thrust, our focus now and we are fortunate because we can,

01:56 we are strong in solar, strong in green

02:00 and strong in terms of our capacity to export

02:04 renewable energy which we have done so into the capital of Indonesia,

02:08 the new capital to undersea cable

02:12 to Singapore and one dedicated to

02:16 peninsular Malaya. So there is huge potential, that is why you can see this

02:20 mushrooming of data centers and AI into the region

02:25 in Malaysia.
