Uproar in the House.
00:04
Those opposite have trashed Parliament.
00:06
They are treating it like a plaything.
00:08
The LNP's incensed after the government revealed it's rushing three pieces of legislation through
00:13
Parliament with less than one hour of debate.
00:16
We would have accepted urgency on these bills.
00:20
What we cannot accept is that we're going to debate three bills in 40 minutes.
00:26
That is ridiculous.
00:27
The bills involved the creation of three new roles, a nightlife economy commissioner,
00:32
a cross-border commissioner and a food farmers commissioner, which was a recommendation of
00:37
the supermarket inquiry.
00:38
These bills are not complicated in nature and establish the legislative framework for
00:45
what has already been announced.
00:47
We get this dumped on us one day with 24 hours to consider them and 40 minutes to debate
00:54
three important pieces of legislation.
00:57
That is the part that the opposition cannot agree to.
01:00
With about six weeks to go until the official state election campaign begins, the temperature
01:05
has ratcheted up, with both sides trying to make the most of the remaining sitting days,
01:11
with the LNP today focusing on Labor's history with the CFMEU, while the government continued
01:17
to attack the opposition leader.
01:18
The ABC revealed last week the LNP leader paid $200,000 in a confidential settlement
01:26
years after the collapse of the company.
01:28
I was at the company for four months and I met my obligations during and after this period.
01:34
Watching the argy-bargy was the newly minted independent Stephen Andrew.
01:39
Told he wouldn't be re-endorsed by One Nation at the October election, he's quit the party.
01:45
And for the remainder of the 57th parliament, the member will be representing the people
01:48
of Murranny as an independent.
01:50
It marks the first time in eight years One Nation hasn't had an MP in Queensland parliament.
