00:00So this is the tank where Ms. Sarah Smith, along with her two children, were found by police late on Wednesday.
00:09Tobago Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
00:12The home where Sarah Smith rented is opposite the decommissioned Wasser Tank.
00:17Aisha Martin, who lived with Sarah Smith and her children, spoke with members of the media.
00:24When she went missing, we didn't know where she was.
00:27So the police decided to come to me, to carry me in, alongside with the mister who she was staying with, for a little questioning.
00:35And at the same time, they were smelling a foul scent right in the vicinity from her home, as we are standing here.
00:42And they stopped, they started to search, and immediately they found them.
00:47Ms. Martin said this was unlike Sarah.
00:51Judging from how everything transpired, this is not Sarah. All who know Sarah, this is not Sarah.
00:56Sarah is a strong black woman who will not take her children's life.
01:03This is not Sarah. I will not accept that she did this on her own.
01:10Those children is her life. Right?
01:15If she was in her right mind, she would have taken the children and killed them and herself in the house.
01:21She would have never done it like that.
01:23And furthermore, she was found naked along with the children, so that is, her sanity was already gone.
01:29Ms. Martin believes that the deaths of Sarah Smith and her children were due to wickedness in high places.
01:36And that was like crying out for help, so this was probably wickedness in high places, I would say.
01:43Because in the late half, she was crying out in between and saying, somebody do her something, somebody do her something.
01:49Right? Maybe the person who she was calling, it don't have to be the person, it could be other people as well,
01:56who maybe was envying her, you know, so I don't want to target anyone.
02:01But at the same time, she had people who didn't like what she was doing, didn't like her attitude,
02:07because she was a person, she don't ask for nothing, even if she want, she wouldn't take it from you.
02:12She was a strong woman.
02:14So for this to happen, this is unjust.
02:18And as I say, God do sleep and Sarah, we love you and God is good.
02:23Ms. Martin says the community of Palletivier failed Sarah Smith.
02:28The whole thing is not natural and I so hurt to see that the people who actually watch her walk down that road,
02:36naked with them children and didn't stop.
02:39Come on, what kind of community it is, right?
02:42The people who she tried to reach out to in the late half, she could have reached out to us because she was concerning us.
02:48That's why I blame myself, right?
02:51But as I say, she's a person, if anything is going on with her, she will not let you know.
02:57Andrew Phillips, who went into business with Sarah, but later quit, said police assisted in the search for Sarah Smith and her children.
03:06He go up the ladder by the tank, the stairs, and when he looked down there, he said he see two.
03:14And me and the girl, I say, we start to bawl, cry, whatever.
03:18And then he come by the jeep and he get a flashlight and he went up and he said he seen three.
03:22And then they started calling people.
03:25But I don't feel good about that.
03:28Because I tell the police yesterday.
03:31And so they came by the station and telling me that I had to tell her what I want to know.
03:36But why you got to tell her? If you look her face, I go in spiritual, you have to know where she is.
03:41Well, it's tragic right now. I have kids.
03:44It's really tragic right now.
03:46Hearing that, well, a nearby neighbor, not really from our community, I guess, that happened to her.
03:55What went through your mind when you heard the tragic news?
03:59Well, it was really painful, sad.
04:03It's unfortunate, tragic. It's record-breaking, honestly.
04:07This type of island has always been about peace and love.
04:10We've never experienced this kind of unfortunate incident.
04:15And it's heartbreaking. These young kids, they didn't have a chance.
04:19What I heard about yesterday just broke my heart.
04:22You understand what I'm saying? It's unfortunate.
04:24First of all, I would like to say I don't support the violence in Trinidad and Tobago.
04:31I would like for us to support each other as neighbors, as villagers.
04:37I would like Trinidad and Tobago to wake up and come under some sort of protest towards the violence and the gangs in Trinidad and Tobago.
04:47It's time for it to stop.
