00:00But still, the person they love, and when they have a round, my mother used to scream at me and shout at me.

00:06And before I realized she had dementia, I would argue back.

00:12And then when I realized it was the dementia talking, I stopped taking offense at what she was saying.

00:18I let it run its course, and then I changed the conversation.

00:22And my mum was back to being the same person.

00:25So it's important if you're a loved one of someone with dementia to learn about it and how to handle it,

00:31just as it is if you're someone who then has the disease.

00:35All of these things are changing.

00:38The Dementia-Friendly Community Program that we started meant that we were talking to people like the CEOs of banks.
