00:09Since 2016, public-facing roles like emptying litter bins have been delivered by the Council-owned subsidiary company Liverpool Street Scene Services Ltd.
00:18A new report to city leaders is recommending they be brought back in-house.
00:23Should officials back the move, more than 600 staff would be employed by Liverpool Council.
00:28And it comes as findings from a resident survey issued this year said cleanliness across the city was their number one priority.
00:36The move to consider insourcing has been heavily influenced by citizens' responses to the annual report.
00:42The report outlined how a steady housing and population growth in Liverpool has contributed to an increase in the overall amount of household waste generated across the city.
00:52The transfer of Street Scene staff will take place over the next year and is due to be completed by October 2025.
