Heavy snowfall causes roads to close in Colorado

AccuWeather's Tony Laubach reports from Burlington, Colorado, where falling snow continues to create hazardous travel conditions.

00:00Winter is hit with a vengeance here in eastern Colorado and this will be only

00:04the first of what will be two rounds of significant snows for areas along the

00:09Colorado Front Range and points east expecting several inches maybe even

00:14double-digit snow totals in a lot of places here in Burlington Colorado

00:18travelers on I-70 forced to pull off here and hang on as I-70 was closed

00:24Wednesday morning ahead of what was expected to be another half a foot of

00:28snow numerous wrecks and slide offs reported further west along the

00:32interstate as you got out toward Lyman even snow affecting the Denver metro

00:36area as we saw that snow come in hard and heavy overnight working its way from

00:40west to east you get out into Kansas only about 15 or 20 miles or so that is

00:45a whole different picture there with only a dusting of snow compared to what

00:48we're seeing here as the inches are piling up of heavy wet snow in addition

00:52we're expecting another round which will affect the southeastern half of Colorado

00:56that's going to include areas along I-25 from Colorado Springs Pueblo and

01:00Trinidad into Lamar in southeast Colorado where we could be measuring

01:03snow in double digits heading into the weekend reporting in Burlington Colorado
