Let's talk about this first, the Packers. We were just talking about them earlier in
00:09
the show of where they are right now. They're the last team in.
00:13
They're the last team in and a lot of their mistakes have been kind of self inflicted.
00:19
A couple of bad passes out of Jordan Love, obviously the knee injury, then the groin
00:23
injury that he's been kind of dealing with. They've had, you know, he's got 10 interceptions
00:28
so far on the season. They've had some special teams gaps as well. Some of them they've been
00:32
able to overcome, some of them they haven't. You look at the game against, say, Minnesota.
00:37
That was his first game back, Jordan Love's first game back after the knee injury. Did
00:40
not play well in the first half. Had they had five more minutes to go in that game,
00:45
I think the Packers might have pulled that game out. The game against Detroit that they
00:49
lost, they had three turnovers. You're not going to win the game turning the ball over
00:52
three times and giving it to Detroit and one of those being a pick six.
00:55
So some of the stuff that they've done is kind of in self inflicted and that was the
00:58
concentration during the bye week for Matt LaFleur. And if he can get that right, then
01:02
I think this team is pretty capable of doing some damage in postseason.
01:06
So they've played basically, am I right? They played the Vikings and the Lions in division.
01:14
That's it right to this point. And they lost to both of them. Are you concerned about any
01:20
of that?
01:22
I'm not. Only for the fact that last year Detroit came into Lambeau Field and they beat
01:25
him and they beat him in kind of dominating fashion. And then everybody remembers on Thanksgiving
01:29
Day when the Packers went over to Detroit, played that first game on Thanksgiving morning
01:34
and just dropped them in Ford Field. So I'm not worried about them going on the road.
01:38
As a matter of fact, Matt LaFleur's got a pretty good road record as a coach. To me,
01:42
it's all about the quarterback getting healthy, getting on his reeds and also keeping his
01:47
footwork because when he's thrown off his back foot, he's on the run. He's not nearly
01:50
as good, especially when you've got a bum knee and a bum groin. So if he gets that healthy
01:54
and gets back to his footwork with Tom Clements, his quarterback coach, I think things will
01:58
be pretty good.
01:59
And if you just eliminate a few of the penalties and just a few of the dumb mistakes, it's
02:02
a good football team. I think defensively speaking, they've climbed, they have ascended
02:06
steadily in a lot of the statistics. They're right around the top 10, top 11, top 13 and
02:11
a lot of those crucial categories. The one category they need to fix is pass rush. If
02:16
you go with pro football focus, they're ranked 25th in pass rush and they've got to get
02:20
more pass rush. If they do, then the secondary is going to get better. Remember, Jair Alexander
02:24
has been down for a little while as well. So I think they're going to be okay, barring
02:28
any kind of mass injury. I think it's a good team. I just think that they just need something
02:32
to kind of bring it all together and maybe going into Chicago this weekend against the
02:35
Craptastic Bears, maybe that's the elixir they need to get off the shine.
