Manchester’s Christmas celebrations are well underway, with the Christmas markets now joined in the city by an ice rink. Outside of Manchester Victoria station.

00:00Hi I'm Theo with Manchester World and there's two surefire ways of knowing that Christmas has hit

00:04Manchester. The first is the Christmas market which hopefully you'll have seen our coverage

00:08of by now and the second is the opening of the ice rinks here in the city. I'm on my way now to

00:14the opening of Skate which opened last week for you guys so will be open now. I'm going to go see

00:19what they've got to offer and let you know if I recommend it. Welcome to Skate Manchester. Now it

00:24is located just outside of the National Football Museum and Manchester Victoria Station. You can

00:28see the prices there. They'll pay for about 45 minutes of skating action and there's plenty

00:32of opportunities to get down to it as well because it's open right through to the 1st of January. So

00:37I was invited down to give it a try for its grand opening. So let's go hit the rink shall we? I will

00:44warn you though it's been a while so don't expect much. So just getting onto the ice rink now. It's

00:49been a long old time, a long old time since I've done this so I'm gonna get on. Thankfully there's

00:55no way I can set you up so you can see me doing it so you're just gonna have to...

01:01What's me struggling? It is genuinely a really convenient setup here. I mean

01:05there's not tons of space to play with and they've maximised it really effectively but

01:10from what I've seen so far I can definitely recommend it as a good time and well worth

01:14giving a go to. Now the space is great. As I say there's not tons of space to play with really

01:24outside the football museum but they really have made the best of it. We've got one big rink and a

01:28sort of smaller outside area for those who are maybe a little less confident. It's right around

01:32the corner from the Primworks. There are tons of great food options nearby as well so it's really

01:37easy to make it into a sort of evening out rather than just a day trip to go skating. They also have

01:43a great range of cocktails there. This is a sort of orange spiced espresso martini which was really

01:48interesting. Actually I can't say I've tried anything like it before but pretty pleasant.

01:54So that's my experience of skate. I do recommend going down.

01:56It's there for a long time so there's no excuse for missing out.
