Farke’s forward dilemma at Leeds

00:00Leeds have scored a lot of goals this season and they've had a lot of different goal scorers.

00:06You've had Joel Perrault, you've had Matteo Joseph both playing through the middle for

00:10Leeds and if we look at that sort of that debate and in particular on Joel Perrault

00:14who himself has got six goals this season, which is pretty high in the Championship so

00:18far, who's preferred do you think, Ellen Drodd, at the moment?

00:23Because we start the season with Joseph because we spoke a lot last season about how Perrault

00:29never really has hit the heights people perhaps have expected him at Leeds until this season

00:34when actually he started putting the ball in the back of the net.

00:36So what's the feeling there?

00:38Who should be starting games?

00:40It's a hard one to weigh up this because obviously a lot of Perrault's goals have been off the

00:43bench and he's sort of wanting to sort of have that impact from the start really and

00:46he's definitely got it in his locker to do that.

00:48But the stats, I mean if you look at the stats, Perrault's played 674 minutes of Championship

00:52football and he's got six goals and two assists and Matteo Joseph's played 830 minutes obviously

00:57so you know like what, 160 minutes more there or thereabouts and he's got two goals and

01:01three assists.

01:02So in terms of goals to minutes ratio, Perrault's way ahead obviously and I don't think there's

01:07any doubt that he's the best finisher at the club.

01:09So at the end of the day, it's goals you need to win games and we've just talked about obviously

01:13Leeds not scoring enough goals in terms of putting games to bed.

01:16So Perrault's the answer really on that score at the moment I think.

01:19I mean that said, Matteo Joseph's a very, very good player obviously.

01:22I mean he's just wanting to get a real run of goals for Leeds, that's the thing and we've

01:25seen it do it for Spain's 21s, I mean he's on a phenomenal run for them and there's no

01:30doubt on how good a player he is and stuff and I've always thought an awful lot of him

01:33and I'm so pleased when he finally got his chance and stuff this season at the start

01:36of it.

01:37And it's not like he's let anybody down or anything like that, I think everybody rates

01:40him very, very highly.

01:41I mean all the fans do, Daniel Farke does, I mean we all do and he's a fantastic player

01:45but just probably wants to score a few more goals obviously but it's not just about that

01:49for strikers.

01:50But yeah, I mean at the moment you're right, I mean with Peru you almost forget how many

01:54he's got.

01:55He's only had six goals, I think that puts him joint fourth in the Championship top scorer

01:58charts and that's a pretty decent return really when you haven't even started that many games,

02:02only had seven league starts compared to Joseph who's had nine.

02:05So you know, I guess he's in pole position at the moment, that said obviously he didn't

02:09start at the weekend and stuff so it's almost like one then the other and obviously it's

02:13a squad game, especially in December as we say when these games are going to be coming

02:17up in December.

02:18I suppose the way to summarise it is you probably just want Peru to be able to do that more

02:22from the start, whereas with Joseph obviously all-round game, yeah fantastic and stuff but

02:26you want him to be like just getting a few more goals and stuff so there's probably like

02:29sort of like little things for him both to be sort of like, you know, to answer I suppose.

02:33But it's a good debate to have to have both those players, shouldn't forget Bamford as

02:36well obviously.

02:37Daniel Farke is always extremely complimentary about Patrick Bamford and he's still very

02:40much in the mix and stuff so another option there.

02:43But it's not just the forwards as well, it's the wingers as well, that's the thing, I mean

02:46obviously leads aren't helped at the moment by Largi Ramazzani being out injured, hopefully

02:51that one's not too serious, you know, it shouldn't be too long hopefully before he's

02:54back and I think probably he's already emerging as like one of the star players, if not like

02:58the star player really.
