People of Glasgow share their favourite things about the city at Christmas

We take to Argyle Street and ask Glaswegians for their favourite things about the city at Christmas.

00:00Just everybody's happy, even though they're out spending money, but they're happy.

00:05The lights, I think. And meeting my daughter, who lives in Liverpool.

00:11She's coming up with her family on the 21st and we're going to the Anchor Line.

00:16It's going to cost me a fortune, but I don't care.

00:19How happy everybody is. Everybody's happy, they're jolly, they're always pleasant.

00:25And it's a lovely place, it's a lovely city.

00:27Why the Anchor Line?

00:29Because I saved it.

00:31There was one night I was passing by on Christmas Eve and the water was pouring out.

00:37I phoned the police, they did nothing. I phoned the council, they did nothing.

00:41And eventually I phoned the fire brigade.

00:43They came out, bashed the door down and it's the most beautiful building, I think, in Glasgow.

00:49And so they turned the water off and they saved the building.

00:53So I can say to my daughters and my granddaughters and my grandson, I saved that building.

00:59Why do I like it so much?

01:01Because it's my hometown.

01:03Mainly because it's my hometown and you do get some nice people.

01:08Not always, but some.

01:10You see yourself, you get a lot of busking, busking, whatever you call it.

01:14People out singing and people out dancing.

01:17But the big thing is up there, Georgia Square.

01:21That's a big place up there and it's got a lot of people up there.

01:24There's a lot of things happening up there.

01:26And the Christmas market, it's down there, so it's good.

01:29But I'm not going to get a reduction, I don't think.

01:32No, no, you should tell the waiters that. Maybe they'll give you...

01:35You think so?

01:36Yeah, maybe they'll give you a little discount.

01:38When about was that?

01:40Oh, it was about 15 years ago.

01:42OK, OK.
