Thousands demonstrate across France and Italy protesting violence against women

Violence against women and girls remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it.

00:15whether it be sexual, physical, psychological or economic.

00:20The United Nations designated November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

00:28The goal is to raise awareness of the violence women are subjected to

00:32and the reality that the scale and nature of the issue is often hidden.

00:38Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the world,

00:45according to the United Nations.

00:48Globally, almost one in three women have been subjected to physical or sexual violence at least once in their life.
