Elon Musk fires top Twitter execs

Elon Musk finally bought Twitter — and promptly fired four top executives.

00:00Shortly after Elon Musk's $44 billion purchase of Twitter was official,

00:05he reportedly fired at least four top executives.

00:08The chief executive, chief financial officer, top legal and policy executive,

00:12and general counsel were among those let go, sources say.

00:16Vijay Aghati, the top legal and policy executive, was reportedly in charge of the team that

00:21decided to permanently ban Donald Trump from the app following the January 6 attacks.

00:26Musk, who has described himself as a free speech absolutist, has long questioned the

00:31platform's moderation policies to his over 110 million followers.

00:36Back in May of this year, he stated he would reverse the permanent ban of Donald Trump

00:40from the site. In a public note to advertisers he posted yesterday, however, he stated this,

00:46Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, and Steve Bannon, to name a few,

00:50are permanently suspended from the app as well.

00:53Musk is scheduled to address Twitter's 7,500 employees today

00:57following the immediate dismissal of senior management.
