00:30Elvis used to play on this land along with all of the other children that went to Longhorn

00:47Elementary School. They just used to come over here and have fun and play around. Elvis,

01:05more than anything else, allowed us, meaning America, to hear a combination of black and

01:12white music put together in this brand new hybrid form that sounded not just exciting but

01:17revolutionary. He was in uncharted territories. There was no other entertainer that reached the

01:46heights that he did as far as changing style, changing music. Elvis was not only the architect

02:08of rock and roll, but he really defined the way in which we viewed great recording artists. In

02:15other words, he came out and became a powerful performer. He was someone who exuded sexuality and

02:22even helped break down some of the segregated aspects of music at the time. I tried to

02:45show that these two men care for each other, but there was destructive forces with the Colonel's

02:50desire to see Elvis as more merchandise. Whether you're from Japan, England, Australia, this guy

03:09brings people from all four corners of the earth to one place to celebrate his life and his music.

03:15Maybe someday I will write a book about my experiences in the art.

03:45I understand that you want to become a dramatic actor, is that right? Well, so that's my big

04:11ambition. It takes a lot of time, a lot of experience, but I hope I'll make it. To me, the

04:28times I cherished were the times that we were alone. There was always so many people in the

04:35entourage at all times. We lived and breathed together with the entourage, traveled together,

04:43ate together, and experienced a lot of things, but the times that we were alone and when he

04:48really revealed himself. More people saw Elvis in concert than man landing on the moon.

05:05Keep in mind too, this is most people's outside North America, somewhat first exposure to this

05:11man called Elvis Presley because it was satellite broadcast. Elvis never performed outside North

05:16America. He only did two dates outside the US, which were in Canada. He loved touring. He loved

05:28the tour. Elvis was very, if he didn't have anything to do, he'd get bored. He loved to

05:35entertain. That was a big part of his life. He was happy after he filmed the movies and his

05:42contract was over that he could get back on tour again.
