Gregory Campbell has called for hotels to be phased out as accommodation for refugees and asylum seekers waiting for their claims to be processed.

00:00There are two hotels in my constituency in East Londonderry used at the moment and we

00:06have problems enough at the moment trying to provide good quality hotel provision given

00:11the open coming next year to Royal Portrush. We need to see a gradual, continuous reduction

00:17in hotel accommodation being used for this purpose. Can the Minister address that and

00:23try to show some sense of direction as to when we might see that achieved?

00:28Well, Madam Deputy Speaker, we have taken to processing asylum claims which were at

00:37a standstill when we came into government, not least those that are extant in Northern

00:43Ireland and I hope that that will lead to a process where we can get some throughput

00:47through the system and begin to exit hotels.
