00:08Not long after, Maria Corina Machado was briefly detained.

00:12She had vowed to lead protests against the swearing-in of Nicolas Maduro, appearing alongside

00:18thousands of opposition protesters in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.

00:23Whatever they do tomorrow, it will seal the fate of the regime.

00:33The opposition says that Edmundo Gonzalez is the real winner of last year's presidential

00:42The crowds gathered here say that Nicolas Maduro, said to be sworn in for a third six-year

00:47term on Friday, stole the vote.

01:06Edmundo Gonzalez has been living in exile since September last year.

01:19Gonzalez has insisted he'll return to Venezuela soon.

01:40For the past week, Gonzalez has been touring Latin American capitals to put pressure on

01:44Nicolas Maduro to quit power.

01:47He also met with outgoing US President Joe Biden in Washington.

01:51Gonzalez is backed by communities of Venezuelans living abroad, like here in Madrid, where

01:57protesters said he was Venezuela's rightful president.
