00:00Again, the Department of Agriculture assured that the supply of rice in the country is sufficient.

00:04According to the DA, the reason for the lack of supply is that they will declare a food security emergency.

00:11Secretary Arnel De Mesa, the spokesperson of the government, explained.

00:16Under the Rice Tarification Law, there are two grounds to declare a food security emergency.

00:22First, the shortage of supply and second, if there is an extraordinary increase in the price of rice.

00:30It was first noticed that it is not a common increase in the price of imported rice in the family.

00:37That's why from tomorrow, the 58 pesos per kilo, the maximum suggested retail price for imported rice, will be effective.
