00:00Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Wang Silian hopes that the continued efforts of the Philippines and China

00:06to strengthen the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

00:10This is Gab Villegas in the Details.

00:15The Chinese New Year was early celebrated by the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines.

00:20Some Filipino Chinese business groups were present at the celebration.

00:24Some officials of the government and members of the Diplomatic Corps were also present at the celebration.

00:29It reflects the Chinese people's deep respect for their tradition,

00:34value for family, optimism about life and expectations for the future.

00:42These are not only deep-rooted principles that have allowed the Chinese civilization

00:50to survive and thrive for 5,000 years,

00:55but also the inexhaustible driving force for the Chinese nation's efforts

01:02to renew and revitalize itself in a new era.

01:08This year is the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China.

01:13Therefore, the Chinese Ambassador thanked the former leaders of the two countries

01:18for the good bilateral relations.

01:20And I look forward to seeing both sides remain committed to the original aspiration,

01:29answer to the call of our two people, and work together to promote the bilateral ties

01:36so as to bring even greater benefits to the 1.5 billion people of our two countries together.

01:45First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte were also present at the celebration

01:51through a video message.

01:53The First Lady and the Second President were hoping for a stronger relationship between the Philippines and China.

02:00It was the 1970s when relations between the Philippines and the People's Republic of China began to normalize.

02:06It was the time of former President Ferdinand A. Marcos Sr.

02:10The former First Lady Imelda Marcos also played a big role in the good relationship between Manila and Beijing.

02:16It was June 1975 when the relationship between the two countries became formal

02:20after the joint communique between the leaders.
