00:00Do you think the public perception of the police service has been eroded?
00:06Well, that was eroding long before this, so this just adds to it, I guess.
00:14As for the hope of the police service coming back from this, Mr. Augustine had this to say.
00:20Once there is life, there is hope. And if there is good leadership,
00:24and if we have good leadership of the National Security Council,
00:29then we will have an efficient police service.
00:31Mr. Augustine, however, maintains confidence in the operations of the police service in Tobago.
00:36In terms of moving forward with the police service,
00:39are you confident the police service can handle crime in Tobago,
00:43in light of the situation with the police commissioner?
00:46We have been handling crime, and you will notice that we have, in fact,
00:51been experiencing some reduction from October last year to present.
00:57We hope that continues.
00:59So that was happening without regard for what's happening at the national or international level.
01:07As Chief Secretary in the Tobago House of Assembly,
01:09do you remain confident in the police service at this time?
01:18That's a question I prefer not to answer at this time.
