West Indies women's coach Shane Deitz says his players are capable of qualifying for this year's 50-over World Cup in India.

Deitz wants proper systems to be put in place so that West Indies can start winning ICC trophies.

00:00The West Indies women were unable to directly qualify for this year's 50 over
00:04World Cup and will have to go into qualifiers. That is set to take place in
00:09Pakistan in the month of April with the ladies in Maroon hoping to book their
00:13tickets to India for the World Cup. West Indies coach Shane Deeds believes the
00:17Caribbean girls are capable of qualifying for the prestigious ICC
00:21tournament. We're confident we're gonna play play well against the spin attacks
00:25of those opposition teams as we did against Bangladesh here and we did
00:29against Pakistan and Pakistan last year and then obviously our spinners have got
00:34a big job to play over there to to get wickets but ideally our quicks and get
00:40some wickets with the new ball first before our spinners come on will put us
00:44in a really really strong position I think if our quicks can do a job up
00:48front and get your position two or three down and then likes of Hayley, Haffey,
00:52Ramos can come on and come on when the team's two or three down will give us a
00:57real strong position in all those games. Regarding the recent women's Super 50
01:01Cup which was won by TNT, Deeds says the bowlers did a good job in the
01:06tournament however there are concerns about the batting in this part of the
01:10world after all the Super 50 saw many low scores from the young ladies in this
01:15year's tournament. The batting we've got to keep work on these youngsters and
01:18give them the exposure, knowledge, skills, techniques and support training programs
01:24to get them to improve which I'm sure they will you know they don't get a lot
01:30of cricket at this level so we've got to put other systems in place to give them
01:34the opportunity to develop their skills and techniques and obviously learning
01:39how to build innings etc etc so a bit of work for us to do but there's talent is
01:45definitely there. Deeds says there must be a 12-month training program in the
01:50region instead of having the players come together just before a tournament
01:54after all his objective is to work with cricket West Indies with the hope that
01:59the ladies in Maroon can once again do what they achieved against Australia in
02:032016 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. My job as the coach is to set up how I
02:10think and we think we're going to have success at international level and a
02:15style of player that we're going to play which is going to be successful to win
02:18World Cups because that's our job and in order to filter that through to the
02:22coaches on the ground and make sure we're all on the same page working well
02:27together and giving our players you know the tools to be able to come into
02:30international cricket and perform against the likes of Australia yeah in
02:35there New Zealand England etc South Africa so that's that's my job. The West
02:40Indies are known for white ball cricket but will play their first test match in
