New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern continues to show profound leadership in the aftermath of the terrorist attack at two mosques. She shared some words of comfort at a high school that lost two students in the shooting.

00:00One of the messages that I want to share to our young people in particular,

00:03it is okay to grieve. It is okay to ask for help.

00:22I bring with me today the support of a whole bunch of New Zealanders who want to know

00:28that for those who have lost, or who have friends that have lost, that you have their support.

00:34And you will have seen that, I think. But you would have also felt, I'm sure, that

00:39in these times it's hard to know sometimes how to express how you're feeling. And one of the

00:46messages that I want to share to our young people in particular, it is okay to grieve.

00:51It is okay to ask for help, even if you weren't directly affected. These things,

00:58these images that people are seeing, they are really, really difficult to process.

01:02Feeling safe means feeling free from violence. There's lots of things that government can do

01:06to make sure people are free from violence, and we will do those things.

01:10But it also means making a place where there's no environment for violence to flourish.

01:16We don't let racism exist, because racism breeds extremism,

01:24breeds some of the things that we unfortunately have had visited upon New Zealand.

01:28So this is my request. I alone cannot get rid of those things by myself.

01:34I need help from every single one of us. If I could request one thing, don't say his name.

01:41Don't dwell on who he is. Dwell on your students and your friends,

01:46because that's what most important people don't need to know.
