02:29In fact, there is a 120-day moratoria ban on new burnings in the Amazon.
02:36But as we can see from both the satellite data and images and eyewitness accounts from flyovers and the smoke-filling Brazil cities, that this is not being respected.
02:47The U.S. market has a key role to play in the fate of the Amazon as it is the largest import market for timber from the Amazon,
02:55which is more often than not logged illegally in violation of both Brazil and U.S. laws.
03:02The cost of inaction for not protecting the Amazon is incredibly high.
03:07When you take into account the critical importance of the Amazon to maintain a safe climate for the near future,
03:15it is incredibly important that we demand that governments outside of Brazil and corporations who do business in Brazil and profit off of forest destruction hold this government accountable.
